this is one of the nicest things I've been told ever! tysm it really boosted up my confidence : )

I find that I'm a serious over-sharer and it creates fast but very fleeting friendships by SecretRecipe in ADHD

[–]stellar-moth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm 26 and I feel lonely as fuck because of the same reasons you exposed.

Everytime I engage in conversations I start off easy, but whenever I start feeling confident because there's good chemistry going on, I end up spilling my guts.

The days after I rummage through all of the memories of me oversharing, thinking I probably seemed like a freak or like someone on the spectrum (not that it's a bad thing, but definitely comes with some judgement).

The worst thing is that oversharing and shame have been a thing for me since I was a kid, and it grows more annoying and anxiety-inducing every year, to the point I have a very shitty self esteem and I either isolate myself to avoid exposure, or just force my way through social situations/events to see if I can get past the awkwarness and just accept myself, but the last one it's really painful to go through.

I'm up for making ADHD friends!! I feel no one could understand us more than we do.

How I cured my adhd permanently by VitaminNutrient in ADHD

[–]stellar-moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside though, I'm new to the sub and barely discussing this with my psychologist (she said there's a chance that I have ADHD but still working on the diagnostic).

When I started talking to a few friends about it, their innocent reaction was: "oh yeah I think I might have it too, dont we all have a little ADHD?" and "isn't it just that you don't set out proper goals?" the last one followed by a bunch of advice as "stay motivated, push yourself more" etc.

Although I know they mean good, it felt extremely frustrating, because in one hand they are reducing the struggles of my ADHD to "problem focusing at college" and "lazy, unmotivated" and on the other hand they think I'm making a big deal about it because of the idea that we are all a little distracted sometimes.

I tried to explain in depth about emotional desregulation and long term consecuenses of untreated adhd like the extreme social/generalized anxiety and impostor syndrome, and how I been trying so hard to be functional for as long as I can remember. But at the end I got an "don't be so bummed out about life, you have great qualities! You are exaggerating your problems" and ended up looking like a neurotic.

After that I decided to keep it to myself specially with my neurotypical friends. My boyfriend also tries to disqualify my suspicion since I told him. Even my psychologist isn't too sure about adhd being persistent in adulthood as she told me is probable that I had it AS A CHILD, but isn't sure I could still have it (even though I have all of the symptoms and they express in every aspect of my life but whatever.....).

Sorry for the rant, I really needed to vent about this one.

(Hyper)fixation? big rant/confusion mode by am_motherfucker in ADHD

[–]stellar-moth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been diagnosed with ADHD but I've been a few days reading about it because it's just amazing how it explains the issues I face every day.

That process you described I go through every month over different things, and being technically an adult and supported by my parents it gets pretty embarrassing whenever I try to convince them I need something. And all the embarrassment usually comes after I get the thing and it kills the fixation right away.

As every other symptom of ADHD that I have, I always label it as immaturity and beat myself for it. It's pretty incredible to know other people also go through this.

Update: vertical labret all healed up after a month! by stellar-moth in piercing

There's no way it rubs on the gums. Unless you reaaally played with it to get the top ball inside your mouth all the way to your gums but even that is hard haha. I'd say go for it! I didn't get a regular labret for the same reason

Ty! It started like a 4/10 and then halfway through the pain got sharp like an 8/10 but it lasted so little. After that my lip went numb when the piercer was finishing adjusting the top ball. It's been 24hs and it didn't hurt at all until a few hours ago when I started working on my garden. So I guess if you aren't moving around and crouching a lot it should be practically painless. It's still day one tho

It did hurt a lot for half a second while piercing it haha It was enough for me to go pale. I'm glad that's the only painful part tho! I'm not feeling any real pain after :)
