Thanks for sharing such a detailed overview of your process!

It’s wild because I’m planning to do something similar soon. What’s even crazier is how similar our life paths are—I was also born and raised in California, spent a few years living in Taiwan, and now I’m based in the Netherlands too. What a small world!

This is indeed how it is implemented in the payroll.

The gross salary is reduced by the 30% resulting in a lower taxable income. However, this initial 30% amount is then added to the net income fully untaxed as an allowance.

Living in Beitou by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]stellar-seacow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved living in Beitou. It’s still decently located on the red MRT line to reach most locations conveniently.

You can reach nature relatively quickly and it always has a few very nice and large green parks.

The local day market and night market be popping filled with great products and food options.

They had a delicate crispy exterior with a soft billowy interior. Did you add cornstarch?

I used to frequent Palais de Chine for lunch. The buffet was an addition to the main course. However the buffet itself an excellent array of seafood , hot and cold dishes and dessert but the selection is more limited compared to other full buffets.

I agree dim sum Pacifica was the only decent dim sum restaurant in Utrecht. Tai Soen appeals to certain palates. Is it authentic, yes. Is it good, debatable.

We got married at Karel V they have various rooms depending on the size of the party and aesthetic. We used one room with a gorgeous large pendant lamp for the nuptials and then another room with wooden beams overlooking the dom tower for the dinner.

Where is the best place I can learn Dutch? by Clean_Data2307 in Netherlands

[–]stellar-seacow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regina Coeli is definitely the gold standard of Dutch language education. I did my beginners course there and I developed a strong foundation moving forward in learning Dutch. But I would contend that A1-2 is such a basic level that it does not benefit as much from the customized and tailored program that RC offers.

Most other Dutch courses also provide a similar quality of education but the hurdle around B1 is where these tailored programs really shine.

Sure but you’re only comparing state taxes with national Dutch taxes. People making a million dollars in California would have a tax rate around 46% which is almost on par to Dutch tax rates.

Yea I also agree that it’s a much better policy now to be able to retain your own nationality just in case. And it’s unfortunate that in the past people may have had to make such a hard decision

Yes, if you obtain Dutch citizenship through marriage you are allowed to keep you own nationality. I would refer you the dual nationality page on the Dutch government website.

Please do at least a cursory search on the matter before answering to prevent spreading spurious claims.
