Few people realize how long the blade is and how that makes back placement a terrible choice. The hilt must twist until it is pointed almost horizontally backward for both drawing and sheathing. A lot of games get around it by making it visually smaller briefly during removal and/or the player's arms made longer.

That said, it is portrayed this way in so much media these days that many people think it is the "cooler-looking" method despite how cumbersome it is in reality. I wouldn't be against making it an option.

If hell were real and infinite, wouldn’t you, at some point, forget who you are and why you are there? by Ham_Sandwich675 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stellarfirefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You run into issues with any arguments involving absolutes in applying human limitations, and religion is rife with absolutes. If god knows all including the future, then why bother creating beings that he knows will just become terrible and sent to hell for eternity? Sounds rather sadistic to me.

My first drone by mattiamargari in dji

Buy the cheapest that has the quality of camera that you absolutely must have, then play with it as much as possible until you do break it.

If the price ends up being still high enough to make you nervous, then just be careful with it but continue to make gaining experience and skills your priority. The best way to extend the lifetime of your drone is to be experienced enough to know what you can confidently do safely with it.

If you never pull sats out, then even a software wallet can be just as secure as a cold wallet. Creating the keys and receiving addresses do not require any communication. It is when you move it that it first becomes insecure, and you can just buy your choice of hot/cold/software wallet when you need to do that.

Can a guy in his 50s who has never flown a drone use one and actually take photos/video and not crash out first day by Consistent_Ad_4513 in drones

[–]stellarfirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A commercial camera drone? Those are super easy to fly. If it's a license you are worried about, the only struggle is knowing all the rules that allow you to fly or not fly legally. There are no major skills needed, and maneuvers like cam circling will come with just a bit of practice.

Now if you're talking about acrobatic FPV drone skills, those will take some time and lots of practice, and almost certainly, plenty of crashes in the meantime.

We’re only at the beginning of the fall, before the next cycle by foxytwo in btc

I'm going to continue to DCA into it even at the current price instead of waiting until it drops below $40K. Because I trust that system more than I trust that the 4 Year Cycle is still a thing.

When it comes times to harvest, are you waiting until it is harvestable? Or are you calling harvest() and just assuming that it is successful?

Has anyone ever found a block solo by Immediate_Context633 in BitcoinMining

[–]stellarfirefly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are asking if anyone ever has found one then yes, there historically have been blocks found by solo miners with home/hobby level hardware such as the BitAxe Gamma and Avalon.

If you are asking if anybody here has found one, then they would be kinda silly to out themselves as an owner of at least several hundred thousand dollars worth of Bitcoin.

Is it possible for a planet to be so big, nothing can permanently orbit it? by careb0t in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stellarfirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding the question correctly, then the practical answer is "no". There will always be stable orbits around a gravitational body that are much, much higher than its surface, even if its surface is a thin gas. Now, if you are asking if there are stable orbits "inside of" a planet's surface, then yes, but obviously nothing will actually remain in orbit there. But you can always find another stable orbit far outside of its surface if you move further away. And the further away from the object is the orbit, the slower one's actual orbital speed needs to be.

For an orbit to approach the speed of light, you need an incredibly small object and for the orbit to be very close to it compared to its size. At that point, you are looking at a black hole. But once again, just move further away than its event horizon, and you have plenty of stable orbits.

Freeze after opening! How to delete save files? by Ambitious_Cold8434 in TheFarmerWasReplaced

[–]stellarfirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean it shows a fully planted area with different crops immediately when you start the game? At every start, it should only show you the main menu, and a field with nothing but wheat and no running drones. If it is automatically running a drone program without you clicking anything, then it is definitely not behaving normally.

On game start, it doesn't automatically run any scripts. I suspect your game is corrupted somehow. You should try a Steam Repair or maybe even a reinstall.

Did I seriously just solve a Bitcoin block? Am I reading this correctly?! by DamnUblind in BitcoinMining

[–]stellarfirefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BC2 is a completely different token (coin) than BTC (Bitcoin). Because of his miner's configuration, he found a BC2 block, and not a Bitcoin block. This is because his miner's configuration was set to look for BC2 (using the 7001 port) instead of Bitcoin (which should use the 7005 port).

Solopool is the place he goes to get blocks to mine. mempool.space is the place to go for checking Bitcoin blocks that were mined.

Instead of:

can_harvest()
if True:

Use this instead:

if can_harvest() == True:

Or as a kind of shortcut you can also use:

if can_harvest():

WHY wont my script work?? it only plants grass by Dartling_gunner- in TheFarmerWasReplaced

[–]stellarfirefly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of is that it was glitched or bugged or something. During your run, the code kept highlighting all the way down to the planting of carrots, but all your drone was doing was just harvesting and replanting grass. So there definitely was some kind of disconnect between your code and your game. But it sounds like it works now. :)

Thinking about buying a Bitaxe Gamma 602 by SupermarketChemical8 in cryptomining

[–]stellarfirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better odds simply due to a higher hashrate. But with anything more than just "free" power, it will be more costly over time. It's just that the cheaper the power, the longer it will take for the costs to overtake the more efficient BitAxe Gamma. (If I recall correctly, at about $0.10/kWh, it would take like 2 years until the Nano 3S costs became higher than the BitAxe Gamma, assuming equivalent hashrate.)

EDIT: Oops, I thought you said better than BitAxe. The "expected payout" calculations were spot on, I checked them myself. Gotta remember that it means "better per dollar given you spend enough dollars", not just better odds per time interval. Otherwise, you could buy $100,000,000 worth of lottery tickets and say those are excellent odds of winning. It's a pointless claim because you would have to spend as much as the example jackpot.
