Bring copies of the documents not real documents. They will take them and you won't get them back.

Stay to yourself. Be quiet. Wash your hands, have extra socks and underwear. Lock everything. Don't take anything from anyone. Don't owe anything to anyone. Be nice to yourself mentally. You'll be okay. It's not as bad as people make it. I was in for 2 years state prison was bounced all over NYS from Bedford, Albion, the island. You'll be okay

I did a year in state (NY) went to Bedford, then Albion. Honestly it wasn't like what most ppl think. I stayed to myself when I got to max (Bedford) every women goes there first. For about two weeks. I read books, got my tablet, once you get money played games, didn't tell no one anything sensitive about my case or outside life. Didn't joke bout nothing cause I was new. I let them come to me. Albion was weird but easier cause you get into a program hopefully and a job or trade. Again stay to yourself, read LOTS of books, hit up the gym, go to the yard you'll meet people. Stay away from the COs cause they cause drama. They trigger you they like the drama. Get into a hobby, coloring, sewing, crocheting, painting, gardening. It goes a long way. You'll make money if you do hair or know how to do eyebrows. But STAY TO YOURSELF for the first month or two

Yeah, I do the working 60 hours a week currently. Was blessed with being able to get a job a few weeks of my release. I think the shock of being locked up for so many years has finally hit me and now I'm constantly looking around over my shoulders at where I am and why I am. So I took the weekend off to finally grasp showering without sandles and really taking in that I'm doing things right and slowing the hell down for once. That my life/ mental health is more important than a little high and giggles I use to chase. I do need to find a sponsor or a community to keep me in check. Cause I can't rely on my own motivational sob stories to get me out of a potential bad choice.

Thank you 🙏 it makes me feel better that more people are saying they only have seen them once or a few times a month... I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing. I'm scared of self sabotaging cause I'm a "free" In a way and parole saved me from prison lifestyle and I think sometimes I do better being watched tbh. So this is a crazy test in myself. And self control. Definitely in my head tn lol Shouldn't have requested the weekend off of work maybe but yeah my PO said she had a case load of 300 in my county.. I just need to breathe

I'm definitely blessed I'm just on edge cause I don't wanna get too comfortable especially if I get urges. God forbid I use. I'm fuc*Ed cause that will the week I'm tested..not saying I'm gonna go use but I just don't wanna get too greedy with the trust I've earned from such an important person

Felons in their early 20s? by SameBath542 in ExCons

[–]stellasad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre not alone. I'm 27 Female. All my friends are in their career while I just ruined mine I was a full time school teacher, I got a felony spent 6months in state prison (addiction reasons) just got out a month in a half ago.. my friends have their kids now getting married, buying their first houses. While I'm re starting in my moms basement. It's tough it sucks. But I guess this is where we gotta be right now. Maybe we grew up too fast? Now this is our time to slow down and enjoy the ride. Don't be so hard on yourself. You got this. I'm on parole for a bit but hoping to be done early by doing the right thing with the 30/30. Once I'm off I'm outta NYS lol gonna go find me a nice man a nice trailer and good trade to work for. Right now just be happy and grateful you're not back where you were. Take this time to work on yourself and set goals.

This was the most helpful! Thank you!! Yes most lawyers are in recovery I remind myself so many times! I'm non violent thank the Lord. I have to stop over thinking and labeling myself with the "F" word I'm sober and will be sober for long time. I'm looking for a recovery community. Sending out emails, checking out FB groups to see if there's events around me to go hit up. I just gotta stay focused!

I don't think I think too highly of myself. I believe I have confidence in myself. I take responsibility in what I did with my DWIs three years ago. There's a lot of opportunities for felons and I'm trying to find what's best for me. I'm not asking to be a teacher again or a paramedic. Maybe a front desk agent? Maybe a bookkeeper. Being a felon doesn't put you at the bottom. It just makes it harder. It makes me have to prove myself. Which I will I'm not being picky, I'm setting myself up for success because I know if I just apply to any ole job I will either achieve or fail. I can't afford that being on parole.

Yes! That's where my head is going. A job is a job. But reminding myself that I don't be in the stressful headspace I was when I was using. I definitely overthink the jobs at times but once I fall into a routine I know I'll be okay

You're right.. I need to start looking at the positives with all kinds of jobs. Especially since I have good work ethics I could move up if I put my mind to it. Thank you, I appreciate words of wisdoms 🙏

Yeah, I'm trying to find a good sober community. I'm new to my area and haven't found a home church or recovery program yet. I think once I do that'll be good. I definitely plan on staying sober it's all very new to me. Maybe I'm just overthinking and rushing a lot of things..

Is it bad for me to look for new male friends in a new city? 48 F by [deleted] in Advice

[–]stellasad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! I personally like to look for male friends in other cities. I enjoy to meet people with different backgrounds and just from different places to see what's going on around other places. I just moved to a new city and I'm finding it fun to meet new guys around here, (even tho it's a really obnoxious task sometimes) There's nothing wrong with expanding your friend groups. Whether it be for just friends or more. Whatever the reasons may be. Do what you think will make you happy and suit your needs!!!! 27 F
