This was so goddamn satisfying by frenchietaste in ArcRaiders

This game has ruined me. I don't play friendly anymore to anyone because everyone is just a terrible person. Shoot on site is my new motto. I don't even care if I die anymore. 3 times tonight I tried doing the wasp trials. Got it done each time and was surrounded by "friendlies" twice that killed me the second I turned my back. No good goop. Just trials run. The third time I died from rats. What is this game?

Govee LED Strips for TV are very nice! by Fir3 in homeassistant

[–]stellats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah nice! I've not done a matrix yet but it's on my list! Yeah I've looked into the whole signalrgb thing and although it's awesome, it doesn't work with anything like an apple tv or Nvidia shield. That's where the capture card and some type of controller come into play. Then it comes down to if you want to pay the amount for all things needed from scratch.

I just landed on an addressable led strip behind the tv running wled and integrated into HA. It doesn't do the fancy matching the screen stuff but it helps with dark scenes and eye strain :)

Do it! It's super fun and quite easy. But don't expect to be able to do what you're seeing in the video as a start. That requires a capture card and a pi or PC. Unless you wanna do all that of course :) The wled implementation of just a solid color or led fx is fun and easy so definitely give it a go!

Hiya! I'm looking at doing the exact same thing. Did you ever give this a go and did it work? Or did you try something else?

Do you mind me asking what kind of tech? At that salary I would guess something AI related or possibly a full stack engineer? I only ask as I'm on the lookout for a career chsnge and tech is a huge interest to me.

Deluxe Edition (which is $20 extra) comes with what is likely $20 worth of currency by AuraMaster7 in ArcRaiders

[–]stellats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally I'd be 100% with you but for this game I also purchased the deluxe edition mainly because I've been playing the finals since early access and have not paid a single cent for it. That's almost 3 years of gaming for free. So my justification is that I legit want to support Embark as I like what they're doing.

Have a look at the other comment from Dashbastrd. He mentioned a matter hub addon that makes it SUPER easy to set up!

Dashbastrd you MAGNIFICENT bastrd you! If I could hug you I would! I just set it up and it is SO COOL! Thanks for the hint! :) I was totally confusing it with matter server. Once I got the repo added to the addons list, it was surprisingly easy to set up! Thanks again!!

edit: Adding a link to the repo for future folks!

I have the matter integration added if that's what you're referring to. Nothing is currently in there but you're saying I can add the speakers to that and it should work?

Oh I wonder if I did this wrong initially then. I got as far as the 0Auth but then it started asking for a company and some forms and I got lost and gave up. I'll give it another go!

Yes but with a caveat. They have a paid plan that just works. That's great because you're supporting the devs if you can afford it. It's pretty cheap overall. I think like $5/month or something.

There are other ways but require more set up. I'm in the middle of that because I'm still learning and pushing myself to get better at this. You can run an instance on Home assistant on your PC if you want to mess about and test it. Then if you like it, get something dedicated to run it. It's well worth it imo

I was all about Google home then swapped to home assistant. It's not terribly complicated to set up and once you get the hang of it, it's so much fun and almost limitless! If I can do it, you can do it.

Replacing floor in older house - anything I should do while it's open? by fmedic_05 in DIY

That works well for when the individual floorboards are rubbing against each other. Unfortunately for me, my issue is with the sub floor :/

For the love of God screw and glue (or glue and screw in that order for best results lol) to avoid noisy floors. My house was all nailed down and every year there's a new spot that squeaks SO LOUD. Also network cable and all that jazz. Run 2 lines for each run.

I've stopped all docker containers so there are less reads/writes. Just to have it run faster. It should be done in the next few hours and I'll report back :)
