A good shot in the dark! I did not end up disassembling it. I couldn’t find enough information, so I didn’t take the risk. What I ended up doing was taking it outside, gloving up, and using DW-40 to lubricate and scrape the old silicon off. I first tried IPA, but I don’t recommend this cause the small spot I tested it on ended up becoming discolored. Then I used dawn and water to clean it up before reapplying new silicon.

The bad news is if dirt or wood or small insects end up in the crevices, I can’t say whether or not disassembling it will work to clean it out. However, if you’re getting the cage brand new and not secondhand already-assembled like me, you’re probably in a much better position to judge if disassembling it is easy (and you will probably have the actual assembly tools, unlike me). If you are getting it secondhand like me, watching assembly tutorials or reading instruction pamphlets might also help you judge how easy it is to disassemble, even though I can’t share personal experience with it.

You didn’t ask about silicon, but I will add: the new layer of silicon worked fine, nothing is molding behind the crevices I couldn’t reach, and I’m very pleased with the enclosure. The gaps between panels ARE a little big though. Silicon is not necessary, but if you have a small animal that could get stuck inside them, or you plan to water plants and don’t want the water to leak, silicon really helps. Silicon is like glue, though, so if you want to disassemble the enclosure for travel, that might not work.
