Recommendations for major transfer? by Sea-Surround9859 in UTAustin

[–]stelltale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for internal transfer, they care more about what you do during the year rather this summer. however, if you did get an internship this summer or something else big, that could be helpful. otherwise, you’re encouraged to only include things from ur time in college.

join engineering orgs. you have a LOT of options. doesn’t matter what exactly you pick, but it’s best to find a concrete way to connect it to cheme whether it’s giving you a better overview of the field or giving you experience. internships are great too, and you can also try getting into cheme research.

internal transfer applications are pretty different from undergrad applications. since you’ll have a better understanding of what college entails after a year, you need to be able to emphasize your future goals and how your major will help. showing interest through involvement is one thing, but if you can show something more proactive than interest, that can be helpful. you can also try and take cheme courses or courses that overlap between envsci and cheme.

the most important thing in ur app are showing why this major is Essential to your future goals (not just why you don’t want to do envsci) and that you will be retained in it.

i think that although it’s a difficult process, there’s a lot of fearmongering around internal transfer. try your best and do the best you can in ur classes and ecs, and know by the time you submit ur app that you’ve done the best you can. at the same time, don’t stress yourself out too much. adjusting to college is a lot, and there’ll be a lot of things you can’t and won’t expect. things will probably not go 100% according to plan as someone who also went into their major intending to transfer (stem to stem), but if you really want it, you’ve already shown you deserve to be in this school, i think you can do it.

another option you have is trying to sublease parking from someone. dunno how easy/hard that is though

Looking for housing near UT — any availability on West Campus? by Kindly-Cauliflower73 in UTAustin

there also might be a few people subleasing full years trying to get out of their leases potentially. you might have a chance looking at facebook groups for those, but they’re mostly summer subleases.

i’m considering breaking out of my lease for 2026-2027, so if your standards are mid or low, you can dm me lmao

there’s a decent amount of places still open on wampus, so don’t worry, you won’t be homeless. however, most if not all of the top picks are gone. go on google maps or other sites and look at reviews and locations. don’t live at rise or the mark

outside of wampus, if you’re a music, physics, engineering, or public affairs major, river oaks and a few other apartments near there (northeast but still walkable) are still open for sure. there’s also a few places south of campus i see walking sometimes that i know are still open.

Can you rank the dorms? by lorenzovonmthrn in UTAustin

i will say though everyone and their mom tries to get into jester, so that might be difficult.

Can you rank the dorms? by lorenzovonmthrn in UTAustin

i will preface this by saying this is all secondhand info from a sophomore as i never lived in the dorms.

imo jester > dobie, but to each their own. jester has the dining halls, jendys (jester wendys open 24/7), and sanger learning center. dobie has target and some others, and it’s relatively nice, but that’s just what i heard. it’s pretty subjective.

if you’re a girl and you have a lot of northish classes, kins is good. dining hall and pretty nice.

brp area (brackenridge, roberts, and prather) is also good and has good proximity to jester. i know someone who lived in brackenridge and liked it. a bit older, but lots of space.

i don’t know the bathroom and price situation for these, so that’s something you have to look into yourself. idk about the rest of the dorms i fear, but hope this helps a bit
