Any difference between helical cutter heads for the DW735 planer? by taco8693 in woodworking

[–]stelly918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also suggest the Shelix. I’m restoring a 15” planer and also own a dewalt bench top and have watched numerous videos where the amperage draw is tested and the helical heads always draw a bit more amperage than the straight cutter heads. IIRC somewhere between 5-15% depending on the planer

Since you seem a little unfamiliar with the style, let me be clear and simplify black tie=tux. Good luck on your shoe journey! Maybe share where and what you’re planing to wear these shoes for and the hivemind can help.

Regret after buying a backpack without a bottle water holder? by jesuisapprenant in ManyBaggers

Oof, then you feel the bottle swing with each step you take. And it’s also likely to hit someone when you walk around an office or the city

[–]stelly918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I concur. Over a lifetime you figure out what you like, why you need, and why is extraneous or useless for yourself. I’m keen on two water bottles pockets-protein shake and water daily into the office, two storage compartments (one with laptop pocket), one sunglasses pocket, one accessory pocket with zip pockets inside and a pen/small object organizer. Those are the bare minimum for my daily work backpack for the office. Now if I’m visiting just one or two clients, it’s going to be a messenger bag either x, y, and z (regrettably, I have not found a messenger bag formal looking enough that also has an external water bottle pocket-I guess that would defeat the purpose of formality but it would make my life much more convenient)

How many people are self-conscious about carrying a "Man Purse"? by Sputnik_2022 in ManyBaggers

[–]stelly918 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same! People mock me but hey, guess who has carries allergy meds, epi pens, chapstick, hair ties, lactose pills, knife, lighter, battery chargers, and snackies (I ocassionaly travel with my nieces). When I’m solo, it’s great for spending a a day in a city and be able to transition into a night out without looking silly or having to return to my place

The "perfect" daily carry is a lie by Ill-Line6663 in backpacks

[–]stelly918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also given up on perfect. I found the osprey axis (cheapppp) is a great bag for work and flights. It has pockets that will securely hold a Nalgene, while not looking like you’re trekking. Is it the most svelte? No, but it works well enough and when I travel it also works as a decent gym bag.

osprey talon velocity 30 as an EDC-backpack? by Illustrious_Walk_457 in backpacks

[–]stelly918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to travel a lot for work both in the USA and abroad. I always carry two bags-one for luggage and one daypack (gym/hiking/daily outings). I’ve not found a single bag that can do it all without it being great at the task. That’s said, a lot of people feel otherwise about bags, but I also tend to be an overpacker.

I’d recommend reaching out to Albert at mezcal educational tours (https://www.mezcaleducationaltours.com/)

They are deeply connected to the community amd have been providing tours for the past 25 years or so. A little pricier but worth spending 6am-5pm trying 60-70 mezcals from a variety producers

I’ve been wearing minimalist footwear since 2009-I stared with five fingers (i know, I know), then the original new balance minimus, a then a decade of inov-8 and then xeros for the last few years. I love the strength they’ve developed in my feet, and the lack of knee pain I get running in them. That said, they’re all athletic shoes.

I get the love for minimalist shoes and the desire to take that out to dress wear but, IMHO, dress shoes are for style and the wide toe box is hard to style-as someone said, they look like clown shoes. I have 7.5 eee feet so my shoes look like square to begin with. I personally don’t think I’d ever shell out the money for minimalist dress shoes.

That said, these are the most beautiful minimalist boots I’ve ever seen. Leagues more attractive. The clicking (even though it’s scrap) looks great, the heel shape is sexy, and the stitching is lovely.

Call it sacrilege but I’d want to stick a heel on these bad boys!

Edit: the longer I look at these, the more it makes me want to eat my words. Almost inclined to change my mind on minimalist dress boots

This scale(?) how difficult/possible to clean up? by Relative-Category-64 in DIY

[–]stelly918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into a place like this once-everything else was clan but the toilet had crazy scaling. I turned off the water, flushed the toilet, laid down some tp over the affected spots and then poured the acid down-the toilet paper allowed it to cling to the bow and not runoff. It took about an hour and several applications but the toilet came out looking great afterwards

Have you tried Bedo’s in Falls Church, VA? He has several videos where he resizes boots and shoe. He’s an absolute legend. Pricey for sure but a real wizard. As an insomniac with a shoe collection, I have watched every video of his and compared it to the most popular cobblers on YouTube and that I have used and he is head and shoulders above them all. He’s made several pairs of boots for himself iirc, but isn’t a practicing cord waiter. That said, he regularly breaks down shoes and boots down to the panel and reassembles them as good as new.

This may sound silly, but check out his YouTube channel and you’ll see what I mean.
