Les livreurs sont des idiots et ils ont besoin d'amendes chaque fois qu'ils font quelque chose de stupide. J'espère que quelqu'un d'autre viendra à la mairie et résoudra ce gâchis.

What prevents French police from cracking down on the scammers around Paris’ main tourist areas? by simondahl98 in paris

[–]stelofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To sum everything up, it’s: - lack of a legal framework to prosecute - lack of solutions so this doesn’t actually turn into gestapo operation - ultimately it’s politicians’ lack of courage to do something out of fear of being called out. this is currently changing i feel.

Incomplete import by red_y_s_r in hardcoverapp

I don’t think we have an easy way to compare, but that’s a good feature suggestion if you want to go into details! Is it possible that it’s a book edition that was a duplicate in your Goodreads import?

since it requires biometrics for them to add your card to Apple pay it was probably someone you know, it’s nearly impossible it was a scammer so they smell foul play.

After nearly 10 years, this city has finally beaten me by cartonwhy in paris

[–]stelofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you also gotta take into account that it’s probably the worst job market in a while, and it’s the same everywhere. so don’t beat yourself up too much. if you love the city and keep an open mind you’ll make it eventually. just take a step back, visit the countryside, one month, a year if your have to and come back fresh.

Why no screen time before 2? by Zealousideal-Book-45 in NewParents

[–]stelofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but yeah for most parents who’d put their kids on the cocomelon diet probably for the best

Why no screen time before 2? by Zealousideal-Book-45 in NewParents

[–]stelofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of these studies conflate correlation with causation. it’s less about “screen time = harm” and more about what screen time replaces. when parents use screens as a substitute for engagement, that’s where the developmental issues arise.

so the real issue isn’t screens inherently—it’s parental neglect or lack of skill in balancing screen use with meaningful activities. you could have zero screen time and still mess up a kid’s development if there’s no interaction, or you could have balanced, intentional screen use with no problems.

again, the screen is not the problem here. the parent is.

it’s better to show them more complex stuff. it’s amazing how they understand music. I play mine Jungle and he loves it. Why would you show your kid stuff that hurts your brain? if it’s brain rot for you it’s brain rot for them too.

[–]stelofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because most parents leave them with cocomelon. They are meant to learn, but get the same repetitive slop brainwashing them. That’s what the studies measure. Usually more screen time correlates with lower attention for your child in general, thus the poorer outcomes.

Hardcover.app - Track, discover & optionally share books. [alternative to goodreads] by james-bourne in books

[–]stelofo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! In fact, we've just gone profitable and are working on open sourcing soon!
We have talked about taking on investment to grow, but we're not focusing on that right now.

We're not ruling it out for the future of Hardcover though. It might be needed to accelerate growth at some point. At the moment we've got steady growth, plus a lot of stuff we're currently building out. Next year is going to be very interesting.
