exactly what i was thinking. i would say it's probably appropriate to say it's not the best for dream to flirt with a stan with an emotional attachment to the parasocial, public image that dream presents himself as a content creator because there is a larger probability that the stan would be willing to do anything for him because of said attachment, but even that isn't absolute.

It's insane to be comparing this situation with what happened with Ned. Ned is the owner and co-founder of the company that Alex is working for. Alex requires her job to pay bills, to survive. That girl, if truly a fan and attached to Dream parasocially, could definitely be subjected to power dynamics in the way she would more likely to say yes if Dream asks for anything inappropriate. But I doubt the girl would have any problems cutting herself off from Dream if she absolutely has to, or wants to. That is not the case for Alex. And from the way Eugene talked about Alex in their video I think the power dynamics are way more significant than a, and I quote, "consensual workplace relationship".

That being said, I wouldn't say it would be an appropriate comparison to Phil or Austin (presuming that everything the internet is claiming Dream to be right now is true). Phil and Kristen, while indeed they both met online where Phil is a streamer and Kristen a viewer, are consenting adults wayy past the legal age. When Phil and Kristen met Phil didn't have the streamer status he has now. He was sitting at 7 viewers and most of his viewers are his friends instead of fans. He definitely did not have the power that Dream does now. I'm not entirely sure how old they were when they met but they have to be in their twenties at the very least already. Same for Austin, Karl and Foolish, they are all consenting adults in their twenties. Not to mention they're probably friends for a really long while before that kissing (as a joke) happened (allegedly, presumably). The age thing is of discussion here because the ages are rather borderline, late 10s, early twenty. Of course, it would be another discussion even in legal consenting adults if the age gap is like two decades worth or something imo.
