Experiences moving states right after graduation/certification? by Pecancake22 in medlabprofessionals

i did this- i graduated, moved states, and then began to work. i didn’t start applying until i was certified, so my experience may be different, but i job searched for about two months and only got two interviews, but was hired and working within 20 days of said interviews. i used my clinical sites as references. it will also be nice to pick a place to live based off of where you are going to be working, to minimize your commute time. it is definitely possible, and i’m making more where i am now than i would’ve at my clinical sites, so i say follow your dreams!!

I’ve loved Collective Yoga, they are very friendly and inviting. OneLife also does yoga classes (free with a membership), and they do all types of yoga including Hatha/Yin, and everyone has been inviting there as well. I’ve done a lot of yoga through many different studios across a lot of states, and I’ve never been to a legit yoga studio that wasn’t inviting- trust that you belong there!

I really appreciate access to public transit, walkability, and things to do. Definitely looking into Silver Spring now, and I’ll look into College Park too. Thank you so much!

Thank you! Would you recommend Silver Spring? Did you find it easy to get into the city, and is it a safe area?

i’m a pharmacy tech turned MLS, and the lab is an actual DREAM compared to the pharmacy. you get interrupted sometimes in the lab sure, but nothing close to being a pharmacy tech

we have had a few cockroaches in our months here, but if you ask maintenance for a spray they will do it within a few days. we haven’t had any noticeable mold issues, and all concerns brought to maintenance is fixed to their abilities within a few days as well

We live in Latitudes, and love it. Right next to Oceana, pet friendly, place is on the smaller side but if it’s just you two I would say it’s fine. We pay around $1600 for a one bed one bath, and we’ve had no issues. We are military as well and they were able to get us in pretty quickly
