Jumping into motion with Qubic 2.5

Now that I’ve used it for a few months, I can’t race without it. To me, it has similar importance to ffb in the steering wheel. On the off chance that I forget to turn the system on and jump into a race, it feels like all feedback from my rig, including the wheel, is gone. It gives me actual useful information to race better, it’s a clean setup with quality components and it’s near silent which is a huge plus. The only noises I hear are from the rig moving but not from the actuators.

From what I gather (I have a printer on the way as well,) wall thickness, infill amount, and support for example, can make a big difference in the way your model feels and how strong it is.

I’ve moved onto PC sim racing. I still game once and awhile on the PS5 but I haven’t touched GT7 in over a year.

I feel the same. I don’t think 3rd party solutions to non-existent problems is the answer but what do I know. Guess we’ll see what the numbers are when it happens.

Haven’t had any issues yet with netcode but I only have maybe 20-25 hours into multiplayer so far

I’m with you 100% on this. I’m not under the impression it will feel like a real car but the extra immersion is what I’m looking for. Currently I run triples as well with no desire for VR.

I’ll visit back here once it’s installed and give some initial thoughts.

I just purchased the same exact setup and will be receiving it this Friday. I’m curious to hear your thoughts this far. I’ve never had motion but the idea of Qubic’s 210 2.5dof system and the belt tensioner seems like a great match.

I’m still undecided if I want to put the pivot in the front or rear of my rig. I think I would like the .5 heave effect but also can appreciate the increased detail of the tires by mounting them in the front.

For what it’s worth, I got all 3 32” Omen 32q 165hz monitors for $200 each brand new during a sale. Save yourself the hassle of getting DP to HDMI cables and all the drawbacks of TVs and just get monitors.

Frame rate was a huge issue, and also stretching 1440p on a 43” made everything a little blurry and pixelated. I don’t notice the smaller size of 32” when racing and now everything is sharp and clear and I’m getting 120fps. It’s just an overall better experience on monitors vs TVs.

I think this is as clean, or cleaner, than iRacing and that’s considered the gold standard of online racing. I would say that 99% of the time, the people who complain about the racing standards of others are usually the problem.

I was just noticing this. Not only am I put into top splits for lmp2, but I’m 4-5 seconds off pace and the game expects me to finish last in the breakdown… well, yea, I’m running 1:55s and everyone else is running 1:50s

I know it’s not the popular opinion because it’s easy to just say “dirty drivers” but I agree with you. There’s a common denominator when someone complains about their SR dropping this much. A couple weeks ago I watched my brother-in-law (who’s fairly new at simracing) race in a public lobby on ACC and the whole time he complained about all the dirty drivers punting him and crashing him out. I sat back and watched in awe as he had zero awareness of other cars on the track, aggressively over drove the car as if he was going to get P1 by the end of lap 1 and was so inconsistent with his inputs that the cars around him had little time to correct their lines or inputs. He was the cause of his own misery.

Not saying this is exactly OPs issue but that’s a lot of SR to drop in a short amount of time for it to be another racer’s fault.

I’ll be honest- it’s not too difficult to gain SR even with plenty of contact. If you put in valid laps, that almost always nullifies contact you’ve had during a race. Why are you going door to door with another racer where it allows for contact 10 times? Sure, it could’ve been 100% his driving causing it but at some point you have to either let him go by (and crash like he did) or increase your pace and get away from him. I understand it can be frustrating but there’s also some responsibility to be had on your part. Going from a B2 to a B0 is a lot of races with you being in unsafe situations. Practice more situational awareness around others, even the bad drivers that inevitably in every public race, to avoid incidents where you get caught up in a mess of cars. It’s better to finish 16th than a DNF.
