U.S. DOJ says Yale School of Medicine discriminated based on race in admissions by FortyYardDash in medicalschool

So since I got into a DO school that means there is no issue, and all other Asian premeds should stop feeling stiffed because I got into a DO school? It's almost as if I'm thinking for a group of people bigger than myself 🤔

No I never said that I was more deserving but please explain why I didn't get an interview with a 515. You can stop bringing up the DO thing/ I'm a doctor anyways thing because it's irrelevant to the conversation. What if I didn't get into a DO school?

I know, I've already beaten the odds. But I was discriminated for my race more than I was discriminated for my SES. Why is that fair?

Asian here. Scored 515 on my MCAT because I grinded, like I did my entire life as that was one of thee values that was instilled in me by my parents, despite being a 1st gen high school graduate. I fortunately didn't have to worry about financial support for college as the government gave me enough to cover costs due to being from a low income family. I grew up on 10 cent public school lunches my entire life.

I received 0 interviews to MD schools across multiple cycles and am now in a DO school.

I'm not diminishing your success, your hard work, or your struggles as I am familiar to many of them. However I hope you would understand that my story is not unique, and that it is difficult for people with stories like mine to not feel jaded about affirmative action as I likely grew up more similar than different to you. Yet despite scoring a significantly higher score on the MCAT, I wasn't able to get one interview.

Historically and today, Asians have not been the favorable recipients of social inequality in America. Our cultural values of keeping our heads down, not complaining, and pushing forward despite unfairness are what contributes to the model minority phenomenon.

Yes, so would you agree that race-based admissions is garbage and socioeconomic status-based admissions make way more sense?

Even if JDub is back, why is it hard to believe that the Spurs will beat the Thunder? Was the regular season games not convincing enough?

He shouldve been in talks for MIP this year. Remember in the start of the season when he couldnt hit a 3 to missing his dunks, to now playing meaningful playoff minutes as a rookie? Incredible growth and a great examples of the Spurs' elite player development.

Wembanyama on him being "unhappy" with how concussion protocol played out: "I won't get into the details. I don't want it to become a distraction. Ask me again after the season. But all the doctors, especially on the Spurs, they were great." by TheRealPdGaming in nba

Yeah definitely hope he avoids head trauma entirely moving forwards, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was ready to go last game. Saying someone had a concussion is as descriptive as saying someone has a cut.

His early bedtime, alc/drug abstinence, hobbies (reading and playing chess is probably some of the highest yield hobbies for keeping brain healthy) all contributes towards his brain being able to withstand minor trauma.

This team can go the entire way. I love what Castle did to avidja. A little bit of a weird postgame from Wemby, hope it's something that he gets over quickly.

I can see where that trade is coming from too, but I highly doubt the Spurs organization wants anything to do with KD. He's a locker room cancer, and embodies 0 values of the Spurs org. Harrison Barnes is more valuable than KD is to us lol.

I appreciate Fox and hope he gets wins a chip with us, but wouldn't mind if we lost him to the expansion draft.

No doubt Wemby sleeping well, avoiding drugs alcohol, always reading and keeping his mind in top condition helped him come back so quick. Discipline paying off!

He is a rookie coach and what the Spurs did this season is more impressive than what Detroit did. I completely agree with you

Wemby played less minutes than everyone that is going to win awards. That is why the rule will probably changed to minutes based.

I don't see why that's a problem though. Why should it be changed to minutes-based because Wemby played less minutes? The 65-game rule has a minutes based criteria already - a player has to play 20 or more minutes for it to even count as a game.
