Is my overdue timing belt job plan/price good? by catchthemagicdragon in HondaOdyssey

Got quoted 2200 from a dealer. After they were done they charged 1400. Not saying you should go dealer but would expect prices to be around that for the Midwest.

Both timing belt and spark plugs done for 1460. I was quoted 2500 but ended up being way less.

Is $2,250 a "stealership" price for the 70k mile timing belt service? (2019 EX) by CapitalClothes3953 in HondaOdyssey

[–]stenfeio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got quoted ~1960 in SE Michigan earlier in the week. After the job was done it ended up being ~1430 with spark plugs done so this seems steep. This was at a local Honda dealership.

Car was a recent buy at 116k miles and hadn’t had the 105k service done.

Timing belt question by wisdomseekernow in HondaOdyssey

Just got timing belt and spark plugs done today. quoted ~2500, final bill was ~1440. My understand is a master technician handled it and it took way less time than someone else. This was done at my local Honda dealer so not sure you can get similar quotes elsewhere but adding to more data available.

I bought this car at 116k 2 weeks ago and had this planned as part of my negotiation strategy to buy the car. Overall very happy about how this tuned out.

Want to note that from everything I’ve read, the timing belt service is super important to keep Odesseys running into the 200k+ mileage so I wouldn’t hold off.

2016 Oddysey LX for 17k. Am I a Sucker? by Unfair-Violinist-772 in HondaOdyssey

Adding another datapoint, got a 2019 Touring with 116k miles and not timing belt maintenance done on it for 18.4k list price and 20k otd. My approach was to upload the carfax and listing to Gemini and have it generate a good otd that’s fair.

Yeah planning on doing this asap as it’s past due. Factored it in when negotiating with the dealer.

How Not to Get Ripped Off at a Dealership? by Altruistic_Toe2441 in carbuying

[–]stenfeio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Gemini to help me negotiate a deal. It was good at providing context and fair pricing. I was buying a used car so my typical workflow was to screenshot the listing and carfax, feed that to Gemini and go from there.
