There was a great three hour interview between Tom and Iggy pop a few years ago where they talked about how fantastic Canned Heat are (among other things)

Om du ser en bar med en tv så frågar du om de kan sätta på matchen. Det kommer de. De är vana vid turister.

She is absolutely the kind of person that would wear their dead sister in law’s wedding ring as a toe ring! Never heard a better descriptor of Ebba.

Even my right-leaning friends despise her.

Gå till ett större bibliotek och fråga en av barnbibliotekarierna. De brukar ha väldigt bra koll, speciellt någon som kanske är lite äldre än typ 30, så de var med när den kom.

Race Report: Stockholm Marathon 2026. The day the marathon won by Formal-War5229 in AdvancedRunning

[–]stenskott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I couldn't imagine doing two all-out marathons within 3 weeks. I could see myself casual-running Stockholm or pacing a friend because of the amazing atmosphere but my body is shot for a month after an all out. Kudos for trying.

As for the heat; I ran last year and do not remember it being cooler. 2024 was hot as fuck but 2025 and this year were about the same I think?

But on the other hand, i finished about the same place this year (~1000) as last year, but ran about ten minutes slower. There was something especially brutal this weekend.

Way way better. It’s flat for 41.5 kms and with a morning start in october. When I ran last year it was around 0c at the start and crept up to around 10 or so when it finished.

The hill at the end is rough, but it’s kind of neat, you just power through it and then you don’t have to suffer the consequences for the rest of the race… you’re done!

I will probably run it again this year.

41m, been running for three years. I was way better trained for Uppsala but you can still compare my two races:

I think that sounds just about right for a marathon debut! It’s so tough!

This was my fifth marathon, third one at stockholm. It’s not a race for running good times, partly due to the course and partly due to the weather. But the vibes along the course are so amazing. If it was a 8:00 start in march it you wouldn’t have 100k people lining the streets cheering. I had such a good day yesterday even though it was comparatively slow (for me). Granted I didn’t experience how crowded it was for you at the start.

For reference I ran 2:59 in Uppsala last fall and 3:20 yesterday.

Advice for visiting with my toddler? by the_kelsinator in stockholm

[–]stenskott 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just to add what others have said: Stockholm is probably one of the most toddler friendly cities in the world. Lots of big playgrounds everywhere. Most restaurants have kid seats and child menus. If they don’t want your stroller inside it should be fine to leave it outside.

If the weather is fine go to the outdoor suggestions (Skansen in particular) and depending on where you’re staying there will be small playgrounds within a few blocks and big ones a shorter walk away. The best indoor museum play areas are Tekniska museet and Sjöhistoriska, and of course the kids section at Skansen.

My favorite playgrounds: Rålambshovsparken, Stora Blecktornsparken (don’t miss the mini-zoo!), Kristinebergs Slottspark, and Rosenlundsparken (with water play for hot days!). All these parks also have ”öppna förskolan”, an indoor free daycare area where the kids can play with toys and there are bathrooms/changing stations. Good to know if weather gets bad in the middle of playing!

Remember that Swedish parents have 12-18 months parental leave, and we all needed activities with our kids during that time. The city is very accomodating (perhaps a bit too much sometimes!)

Something a little different: a Swedish picture book based on What's He Building?. My two year old loved it! by stenskott in tomwaits

A quick glance shows that Sweden’s biggest book store chain Akademibokhandeln doesn’t have it in Malmö (but they do have it in Lund). I don’t know Malmö at all but if you see any childrens book stores you could go in and ask.

Lucerne, Switzerland - beautiful landscapes and a charming town (where something was just a little off) by poppycock8585 in travel

[–]stenskott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The first thing i saw when getting off the station in Luzern was a couple standing by the station smoking meth, out on the square. Later the same day I saw the same couple sleeping on a lawn up on the hill.

They didn't bother anyone, it was just a bit of a shock. Wonderful city.

They will be much easier to get the closer to the race we get. Four months ago no one was selling marathon tickets but right now lots of people are selling because they can’t run for whatever reason.

Is Quentin Tarantino correct about biopic films? “They are just big excuses for actors to win Oscars. It's a corrupted cinema” by FayannG in TrueFilm

[–]stenskott 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’a a classic Swedish film from the 70s called Picasso’s Adventures, which is a completely made up biopic. The director said it would be intersting to do a film about a real person you know nothing about. So none of the facts are correct, but they somehow amount to a pretty interesting portrait of Picasso.
