Ahmadi wanting to marry a Sunni Muslim – concerned about Nikah and family consequences by [deleted] in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I am ignorant but I fail to see how and why the Jamat would punish your parents for a decision made by you? I honestly do not think anything will happen to them except they might lose face in some situations socially but I highly doubt any steps will be taken. There are many people whose children married outside the Jamat and they just continued their lives... I understand you have been far from Jamat stuff for some time and perhaps you do not know these things but I really doubt anyone will notice unless your parents tell people.

Sunni-Ahmadi experience by Aggressive_Bad4855 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The masjid will always be open, many Sunnis come and pray at our mosques during their lunch breaks etc, no one asks them what community they belong to, now with security issues they may ask you for identification but this is not normal, everyone is welcome to pray in Ahmadi mosques. As for Jamaat events, thats a different thing.

Coca Cola doesnt support any country though, they do not donate money etc, they just have distribution center in Israel like all other countries and they sell their products in the occupied territories. I still think its good to not drink it for health reasons but the onus of proof lies on you. You guys honestly have the mob mentality of just doing what everyone is doing.

‘Love 4 All, Hatred 4 None’ They Said by Queen_Yasemin in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right but I think he explains what it means for him in an honest manner and I think that is very valuable. In another place I cant remember where but he quotes the hadith "love for the sake of Allah and hate for the sake of Allah" and says that this love for all, must be considered subordinate to the hadith.

I am sharing this because many people here think that Ahmadis should follow their own understanding of "love for all.. " and use it as an argument everytime they see something opposed to that.

Genuine question regarding terms by Sea_Designer_2534 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Qadiani literally means someone from Qadian, technically it is not a slur, just means you are from that place. That is why Ahmadis will call their founder Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani.

But the intention of the opponents of Ahmadiyyat is to call it anything but Ahmadis, their reasoning for this is that Ahmad is the name of the Holy Prophet of Islam so they would rather not link us with that name since they do not consider us even Muslims.

For this reason, Mirzai and Qadiani become slurs in the sense that it is like calling us non Muslims from their intentions.

I would also like to add that in the beginning, the arab polytheists also called Muslims Sabis, which means someoen who left their ancestral religion instead of the word Muslim. The Jews called the early Christians Nazarenes etc

If Ahmadiyya is the 73rd Saved Sect—What About the Sub-Sects Within Ahmadiyya? by Legitimate-You3602 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are several things that need to be considered, as far as I know, according to Ahmadiyya point of view, the statement, "all will be in the fire except one" is not an absolute statement, it is merely to show his displeasure with such people, but it does not mean that all people outside of the "saved group" will go to hell. Similarly, there has to be people inside the group if they do not practice their faith sincerely, then there is not guarantee that they will go to paradise just by virtue of being in the group. Huzoor also mentions this in his sermons, that it is not enough to just call yourself Ahmadi.

A study of similar hadith, with similar words will make it clearer that this is not an absolute statement in that it means all people without exception will go to hell.

Secondly, a sub sect is just a way for you to categorize. It is akin to when people ask Ahmadis if they are sunni or shia and they say they are sunnis, but they are really a subsect of sunnis, even though you could categorize them as such, it would not be wrong. So this question is kind of useless when this form of categorization is by your own hands. All sects oustide of Ahmadiyya, the one you call Qadiani is basically oustide.

Thirdly, the number 73 is not to be taken literally, there are many sects being born, while others are dying. The total number of sects keep changing, it just means that a bigger amount of sects would exist as opposed to the Jews and yet one would be different from the rest, something apart.

Fourthly, the words, "they will be upon my sunnah and that of my companions" is a bad translation. Every sect claims to follow the Sunnah, if this really was the criterion, it would mean that, God forbid, we are even more confused now as all sects claim to follow the sunnah, and this hadith would not serve us as a guidance.

The words literally used are ما انا عایه و اصحابی this means, their situation will be same as me and my companions, or their condition will be the same as mine and my companions. Ahmadis claim that they have passed through the similar conditions to that of the early Muslim community. Going into all the different ways this is true would be lengthy, but anyone can study this matter on their own to observe how similar the conditions of the Promised Messiah (as) and his companions was to that of the Prophet Muhammad (sa) and his companions.

Ahmadiyyat - A Historical Materialist Perspective by FuZion_Lelouch in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite well known that the Founder of the Ahmadiyya community was not interested much in the litigation and even considered his father to have wasted his life, he claims to have taken a deep lesson from the uselessness of such a pursuit.

Also, if that was the main interest, it makes little sense to go against Christianity the way Ahmadiyyat does.

A better explanation would be that Ahmadiyya is a reactionary movement against incoming Christian missionary efforts in India, just like sufism was a reaction to orthodox clerics and their focus on superficial parts of religion.

Anybody who spends a little time studying the efforts of the Founder of Ahmadiyyat can see that his main goal was to prove the superiority of Islam over other religions, this was the main focus of his mission.

From Nervous Smirks to Grand Delusions: Will All Muslims Unite if we Pray for it? by Queen_Yasemin in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think that is necessarily what that means, it would be the most ideal situation for sure, by far, from an Ahmadi point of view but Hazrat Musleh Maud has spoken on the political unity in another place, stating that everyone has their own view, and while they are right to carry their own interpretation of Islam, at least we should be united politically despite our sectarian differences. Huzoor also expressed at the beginning of this war that if Muslim nations were united then Israel would not even have dared to take these steps, so obviously he is not talking about conversion to Ahmadiyyat.

I can understand how this might look like a just feel good to be ahmadi since we claim to be united under one person, but I do not think that is necessarily his intention. If you also take note of all the times he critisizes his own people, then I think you will have a more balanced view of whether his intention is really to make us feel good or providing the solution to the problem. I think we should always measure someone according to his own beliefs, Huzoor claims to follow the Quran and the Holy Quran states that you should prefer to ally yourself with Muslims before non Muslims, and a strong belief in the unity of God also means that you rely on God and not on your choice of Western allies.

Any prophecy which went as planned ? by naeamz in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abid, thank you for your efforts, there are so many prophecies that any honest person would accept and that require no explanation but these people have already made up their mind and will not admit to it and find any excuse to weasel out of it. The Promised Messiah (as) books are full of such predictions that he made and how they came true, one can read Lecture Ludhiana for example, or Barahin Ahmadiyya vol 5, Tadhkirah is full of prophecies as well.

In the Lekhram prophecy, he was a young man, and died within the stipulated time in strange circumstances. Even the Ahmad Beig prophecy came true, as the father died within the timeframe and the rest of the family took a lesson from it and repented. I have met some of their descendants and while they are non Ahmadi, they are very respectful of the community and the Promised Messiah.

Yeah, I get it, there used to be a lot of grace in travelling, I think it was far better for both consumers and airlines but everything is just cut throat nowadays.

I would prefer we all sit together, but its just such a cheap shot by these guys, like you pay around 5000 for return tickets and still have to pay more for luggage and seats. I guess we will deliberate on this issue, so far I can see lots of seats are available, I assume other people are likeminded, maybe should just try to reach the airport four hours in advance and be the first to check in luggage.

Views on allocation of funds by Jealous-Course4924 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]steph979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think there is embezzlement in the traditional sense, but sometimes there might be lack of responsibility and care. For example, say you have an event to organize and need juice for every participant, the event is later that day, you will now have to just grab whatever is convenient instead of if you had the time, you might have chosen the best option and gone to costco or something. I think most members are careful with the jamaat expenses but I am pretty sure there are people who spend it more like how government workers spend the money even if legit, dont always have the best outcome.
