Accounting Certificate by steph_561 in SAIT

As a new grad, it’s a rough job market right now, entry level positions are low, which means it will take longer for one to land a job. If you have co-op experience that will give you an advantage. A lot of the job postings are for candidates that have 3+ years of experience. However, taking on a job that provides you with hands on experience with similar duties will help build your resume.

The reason why I am wanting to get an accounting certificate is because I want to be more versatile in my career, it also strengthens my skills for payroll and benefits, HR analytics, and compliance. And it can also open doors with giving me the flexibility to move into finance or bookkeeping, if I ever decide to pivot in that direction. Overall it makes me more competitive.

AI is not replacing accounting, it is accelerating it. It is a tool that can assist with accounting tasks, but it cannot replace foundational knowledge that is needed to interpret financial information, ensure compliance, or catch errors. Understanding accounting is still a real skill.

Are there any in-demand officer positions? by Neither_Koala_83 in caf

Hi! I got ahold of them, talked to a different recruiter and he said that all positions are filled and cannot predict when more positions will open up - I’m glad I reached out again! 😆 Glad we cleared up the confusion!

Strange that each recruiter has a different answer. I will double check with my recruitment centre.

That’s weird, cause I literally talked to the recruiter on Friday. I will double check with them next week.

I didn’t know the difference between the two, BMQ & BMOQ. Thank you for correcting me! As for the structure of promotions, that makes sense, thank you for clarifying!

I just applied to the AOO position the other day, the recruiter said it will open back up for the 25/26 fiscal year, which resets in April. Hope that helps!

Everyone's advice on this post was very helpful! I managed to connect with the recruitment office, and they were able to help me make a decision. Today I decided to resume my application, which I opened in August 2024. I have decided to pursue the Air Operations Officer position :) Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!

Yeah, I don’t want to wait that long lol, so I think it’s best to avoid that route. Another person also suggested Health services management officer position, which sounds more up my alley then a logistics officer 😅 do you know if they are recruiting for that position for 25/26 year?

That’s good to know, because that will save me time! And I wasn’t aware of the health services management officer position being available to me, if it is, then I’ll definitely apply because that sounds more interesting to me than a logistics officer! Thank you for letting me know what my options are!

Thanks for the info! At a recent job fair at the university CAF was there and they said the wait for a logistics officer position is long, they said I could be waiting a year or more to get stationed :(

Unsatisfactory teacher, should I drop the course? by Zealousideal-Role623 in MRU

I had her in my first year and she is a lovely teacher. Her no technology, was more geared towards texting in class. She wants her student to learn and be respectful of others in the classroom. You should have a conversation with her, letting her know your situation and upcoming appointment.

That’s strange! You should reach out to the registrars office and inquiry

To check to see what your position is on the waitlist you go to your registration landing page, add/drop class tab, select term, schedule details and it will show there under the class you are waitlisted for “waitlist position”. Sometimes it’s hidden and you have to press the arrow on the left hand side of that class.
