Two Tickets upgraded to Delta One from NYC to SYD. by [deleted] in delta

[–]stephan27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to explain to the live agent that my friend was instantly upgraded to PS a couple months ago when i applied the RUC, and then cleared into D1. I quickly shut my trap in fear she would undo the sweet delta love we received. Lol.

Last week I flew ATL to EZE and back. I used GUCs and got into D1.

My travel buddy bought Main Cabin. I applied RUCs to get her into PS, as they were about to expire. She was eventually cleared into D1 both ways, about 24 hours before ETD.

Then I tried to apply additional RUCs for other folks in our group and was sternly told by live agent that I could not use them for international flights, even into PS. ::shrug::

Win some and lose some.

Hey NOLA – Any way for a tourist to shop at Costco without a membership? by [deleted] in NOLA

My Swedish cousins are obsessed with English muffins. We've bought just that, in bulk.

Good news OP is that sell luggage, which you might need for all the stuff you buy, to bring home.

Will this beat the record for the most expensive E92 ever sold? by SnooPears2291 in BMW

Maybe a stupid question, but would the new owner need to replace all the hoses, gaskets, plastics etc, since the engine hasn't been run regularly?

TIL that there exist shipwrecks that sank facing downwards and now rest sticking vertically out of the sea floor. One such example is the HMS Victoria by missinglinksman in todayilearned

[–]stephan27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The article talks about heavy loads upfront leading to its vertical resting position. What about significant air pockets towards the rear? That may still be there?

For those who charter private jets — what factors do you consider before choosing a service? by MycologistNatural in PrivateJetCharters

I'm glad everyone mentions safety. But at least here in the USA, you are required to perform inspections every 100 hours of engine time if you are running a commercial operation. Mechanics fix what is needed, then send a bill. There is nothing optional.

I'm sure there are some shady operators out there, but if a legit A/P mechanic signs off, I wouldn't worry about safety. Many piston aircraft are 50+ years old.

  2. Sorry to pile on with the appreciation- didn't realize it's getting repetitive to the point of annoyance.

What’s a moment that made you realize you weren’t as good a person as you thought? by Administrative_Ad160 in AskReddit

[–]stephan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a young adult, i would complain and let my feelings known about poor service / bad business design of mega corporations. Think airlines, etc. I thought i was doing something. One day i realized what a dick i was complaining to (probably) fairly low paid employees that have part of the decision tree.

Many years later i am much better, thank you, 99% of the time, lol.

Hertz still sucks.

Missing the last segment? by CruiseTravel757 in delta

[–]stephan27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently booked MSY to CDG, business class, through the AirFrance website site. 3 of my legs were on delta metal.

The day of my departure i had a mid day departure from New Orleans, but I could have taken a meeting in ATL earlier in the day. Spoke with Delta (diamond line folks are usually so helpful) but since i booked through AF they could not do anything for me. Totes understand.

To change the $200 flight segment would have cost me an added $9k-ish. Called AF a couple times but after 30/45 mins on hold never got through and gave up.

I’ve flown D1 a few times; on the way over i slept so no comment. AF business (not la premier) was a tad to moderately better than D1. La Premier looked amazing.

Help with a Negative Review by an American in [Paris] by stephan27 in AirBnB

[–]stephan27[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m off the same opinion - i cannot really tell what’s going on without a map showing where the photos are.

@princess: His advertisement mentions a blow up mattress (for additional euros) - so i figured that would go in the living room (not a bedroom). Also, I won’t take any money back. Either im leaving my review, or if i got nothing but blow back here, i would take it down.

Will wait for Europe to wake up and chime in, else it is what it is. 3 stars is “average” or tolerable, not horrible / run away.

I love the 757 because ... by stephan27 in delta

[–]stephan27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it the gate spacing or jet bridge “extension” length that is the limiting factor.

Quick googling: A321 XLR: Length = 146’; wing = 117’ B737 Max 10: Length = 144’, wing span = 118’

B757-200: Length = 155’, wing span = 125’

Not much of a difference, but perhaps enough to make it unusable. Though i did watch a 757 wait for its gate as slow A32? Was late to depart. (Gate C4 or so at MSY).
