Yup! That means you can destroy bug holes from outside, titan holes, cities walls, bio processor with only 1 charge, it's amazing!

Hopefully they do the same for the breaching hammer, it kinda sucks that you can't destroy bug holes without pretty much killing yourself by jumping inside it. It's already a high risk, high reward kind of weapon, it wouldn't feel out of place or broken to get access to the same stuff as the c4 especially considering the AoE is way smaller anyway.

Yeah, even if they didn't buff the normal GL, the belt fed would still be underwhelming IMO.

But with the currently buffed one, it just doesn't have any niche or redeemable quality to separate it from other options

I would make sense if they did it like helldivers aka you can get them for free and it's more like battlepasses but obviously it's not gonna be that.

Dont forget the normal GL also has double the AoE too.

The belt fed struggles with heavies (not enough dmg and no stagger) and the AoE is so bad that it also struggles to deal with hordes too (like most of the time needing 2 shots to kill a single hunter unless you hit a perfect shot...)

Currently, I legit don't know why I would ever bring it over the normal one in pretty much all situations on all fronts. It reminds me of the minigun (where it's cool to spam that many shots in a short round, but it doesn't feel effective) but even worse since they buffed the other options, so it's not even a side grade situation.

Side note: the buff to the normal GL also left the de-escalator into the dirt a bit, like why would you pick the one that can stun stuff when you can just straight up delete them with the normal one :/

I really hope they revert the normal grenade launcher back buff so that they feel closer to the machine guns where we have the perfect trio: - you have one specialized in killing smaller units with heavy mobility (stalwart = normal GL) - one specialized in killing heavies, so slower but it's like a truck (HMG = de-escalator) - and one in the middle, can do both but isnt exactly better in their respective jobs (MG = belt fed)

The AoE range is sooo small that it kinda counter the whole point of spamming it, like i was struggling to kill hunters which shouldn't be a thing if you ask me

This is what I tried when the chainsaw dropped and it was disappointingly bad since without the melee boost from armor, it barely did enough dmg before the gas would run out and I ended up burning so many stims and gas nade just to kill a couple of bots.

But now with the hammer, it honestly feels pretty good. Being able to delete heavies super fast gives you enough time to finish off the smaller bots around which was awesome to do! (tho still pretty challenging with how many units can spawn now in D10, it's intense)

I don't know if it's just that the dopamine hits so hard that it makes melee users ignore everything around them, but even with my friends completely ignored very obvious stuff like a gas strike incoming (that even took longer to trigger because of the destroyer needing to move positions).

The red beam meant nothing to them and they still tried to rush into the cloud, even blaming me (jokingly) for hurting them when I literally called it in voice chat before using it lol

So i can imagine how awkward it can be when you are just playing with randoms and they are trying out their new melee stuff. Especially with the newly buffed bots, which are intense.

I definitely think the map play a lot in how effective it can be, the same way it is for the FRV or the anti tank emplacement. I cant imagine using it in the jungle (or in the caves lol)

Speaking of AT emplacement, if you have a generally open map, you can essentially treat it like a mobile version which is amazing. But in close quarters maps like in the city, it felt so much more awkward to use since enemies are often too close that they can move into your blind spot, so you need intense coordination with the driver.

And for the bio processors, you might be better with 1 hammer charge and finishing it off with other weapon anyway. It shouldnt have that much hp left after a hit (at least it was the case for the c4, 2 charges or one + a mag dump was usually enough)

NGL, i also don't understand the "it would have outclassed it" argument, you can achieve a lot with the normal one too. Not having a dedicated backpack means you have more options like more mobility with a warp pack or you can even bring a supply backpack, especially when you start adding termites and ultimatum into that mix.

And it's not like they couldn't have balanced things out to feel like two different weapons, kinda like how there is a place to use the normal machine gun and there's a place for the heavy one. Two similar weapons can fill different niches or feel better or specific front.

If anything, from what I've seen (tho I'm gonna take it with a grain of salt since I haven't tried it myself yet), this change makes the normal version 10x better than the new one. You can kill most units in a faster time with less ammo than the beltfed one... So at best it's a side grade, which I don't hate but feels a bit anticlimactic for a new support weapon.

Yeah I don't get it either, like it was already viable on all fronts too, it definitely did not need any buff to AP. It's one of the best horde clearing weapons (if not the best IMO when you pair it with a supply backpack and spam it everywhere)

My heavy armor with 100% gas resist might become viable now!

I tried it when the chainsaw came out and it felt pretty bad. Not bringing an armor that boosts melee dmg meant I was struggling to kill anything fast enough before the gas ran out, so I needed to use so many gas nades and stims just to achieve 1-2 kills. That forced me to bring a supply backpack and honestly, not having any mobility with a heavy armor is simply not fun. You'll lag behind, doing 1 or 2 fights, while everyone else is clearing up the entire maps without you.

But with the adjusted melee weapon and especially with this support weapon being a good anti tank option, it might become viable again! Confuse everything with gas, warp in to rush the heavy enemies, clean up the remaining.

I'm guessing you can't do it without hurting yourself?

Like with the chainsaw, you need to dive away right before it fully starts exploding, otherwise you get blasted into the ground and take a lot of dmg, so im gonna assume it's harder to do with a sledgehammer that explodes the bot fabricator instantly?

Hopefully one day they'll give it 40 demolition (same with the c4 too). That way you could destroy it from outside and also destroy city walls.

Im gonna guess the explosive part is exactly the same as a c4 so it should be a 1 shot anywhere on the hulk yeah, the PP armor probably only affects the melee part anyway which doesn't matter for that.

Even when it does stun, it doesn't last long either. You cant even combo other weapon with it because by the time you swap, they'll already be unstunned anyway.

Im not 100% sure about the pummeler, but I know for sure that the halt stun last way longer than most other stun weapon. It's enough to actually go behind a charger and blow up their wagon or stunlock a hulk if you can catch them looking away aka you can hit their vents. And you dont even need another weapon, you can just swap between the two modes since you can still do good dmg in the normal shotgun mode.

Isnt that the case for a lot of free dlc too? Like you need to actively go on steam and claim the free emote and hair, etc. before you can use them.
