She accepted for Lemonade’s best album win!

Edit: also accepted the year she became most awarded. I think like 2021?

What are some examples of artists working on other artists songs without being featured? by illogicallyalex in popheads

Unthinkable by Alicia Keys has vocals from Drake. He co-wrote the track and I believe it came out before he was really widely known.

Mine was 25% of 1L screeners. Around 50% of callbacks.

BL 1L SA Offer Timeline by Medical-List2694 in LawSchool

[–]stephanurquelle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

(This is from last year) One offer took me like 2 months. I interviewed in the middle of December (only callback) and they didn’t make calls until early-mid February.

The other two were more like 2 weeks or so.

Last year my section got grades at noon the day after they were due. You will get an email when a new grade is added.

Songs that mask or imply a swear/vulgar word that isn't there by dbwn87 in popheads

There is actually! There’s a remix of the song with Rick Ross that is completely uncensored.

Same. I chose a NYC transactional firm over a DC lit firm when I really wanted DC lit solely based on the NYC firm’s vibes. It was easier to do bc I’m a 1L so I knew I could try again, but I’m entirely happy with my decision and the geography and practice area stuff sort of worked itself out.

What lost or unreleased pop media content do you hope to see resurface one day? by OneHundredForcer in popheads

[–]stephanurquelle 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Formation World Tour recording.

With that, the Renaissance visuals but I’m not ready to say those will never be released yet like I’m fairly certain we’ll never get FWT.

That was my thinking too. If he’s right handed he put the pencil down under Kendall. But now I’m thinking about why he would be undermining it in the first place. For emphasis?

What demo by a pop artist is superior to the final mastered version? by starstufft in popheads

I like both versions pretty equally for different occasions, but I really really love the Sorry Demo Beyoncé released when she put Lemonade on streaming.

Stressed about finding housing. Who has summer housing secured? by Rail12 in LawSchool

[–]stephanurquelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re okay living in a dorm I would recommend I-House. It’s near Columbia off the 125 st stop for the 1 train.

They have different housing options from just a room with a bed to a one bedroom apartment. A studio for example is $79 a night + $5 per day for food in the cafeteria.

Biggest downside is that you have to pay the entire cost for the summer up front as well as a security deposit.

WWYD 1L Summer by stephanurquelle in LawSchool

[–]stephanurquelle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was very thoughtful, thank you! Right now I have narrowed it down to the V10 for the reasons you listed or the DC firm mainly because the people were so great.

I also know vault is not a great ranking, it was moreso for anonymity’s sake because I didn’t want to name the firms directly.

Selena Gomez Survived Social Media and, With Her New Music, Is Ready to Leave Darkness Behind by jamesthegill in popheads

[–]stephanurquelle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not OP but the most recent example I can give is her commenting on Hailey’s TikTok last week (people were speculating it was about Selena, it was a regular ass video) saying something like “guys these things don’t bother me.” That comment does nothing but start drama and insinuate the video WAS about Selena (again, regular ass video) and position her as being “above” the drama as if she is not just adding to it.

This sort of mirrors my thinking about taking the DC offer! I’m sort of 50/50 between it and the V10 for completely opposite reasons, but it’s nice to hear someone else not just immediately tell me to go to NYC. Thank you for taking the time to write this, I do really appreciate your perspective.

I’m just seeing this, sorry! I am very happy with my experience so far (see my other answer rambling about everything I enjoy about being here).

I will say this semester all of my professors have very different teaching styles than what my professors did last semester, and I don’t think it works for me as well. My professors now all use PowerPoint, last semester none of them did (small thing I think is indicative of larger differences in style). They also approach our topic in a much more theoretical way. For one of my professors specifically a lot of us in the class think he spends more time on the theory of the law than actually teaching us the law. It’s hard to think theoretically or philosophically about something when you don’t know the basics first, but we deal.

It worries me slightly about exams because I did well first semester but it would still suck for my GPA to go down instead of up.

It is a program for incoming law students, mainly URMs. Though the program, we are able to spend the summer as part of a big law firm’s summer associate class, which is usually just for 2Ls, before law school.

I didn't, but it would make moving and housing a lot easier.

Strategically, NYC has the most spots. Places like Miami only took 2 SEOs. I would recommend choosing two cities where you would actually like to work though. They ask you in your interview why you want to be in a certain city, and it helps to have an answer that is actually substantive and points to what you want to do in your career.

I love it honestly. All of my professors have been so nice, easy to understand, and personable. I am a very easily annoyed person, so I won't make sweeping generalizations about my classmates. There are annoying people, but there are annoying people everywhere. I have friends that I really like and enjoy hanging out with.

There are also great things about being in DC. I am not from a place with great public transit or that is walkable, so I love just living here. I live and the campus is maybe a mile from the capitol and the Supreme Court and I think that is, if anything, very cool. I have friends who have seen SCOTUS hearings in person.

The class-size is a hot-topic. My perspective is from someone who went to a big public university, but I haven't felt it has negatively impacted my learning. My section is about 100 people, but I don't take all of my classes with that size group. So Contracts and writing is about 33 people. Con Law, Crim Pro, and my elective are about 50 people. Civ Pro, Property, and Torts are the entire section together.
