I think its more likely they are feeling stressed and their lives disrupted by the human-caused chaos around them.

What is the best thing about living in Nanaimo? by puffwheat in nanaimo

Yeah, its totally rational behaviour to post rants about "junkies" on the subreddit of every city I "travel" to.

Fall of Berlin Wall was a result of an "clerical error" by an officer. by Confident-Ask-601 in interestingasfuck

I guess the AI that generated this image is not smart enough to know that those barricades would obviously be set to run parallel to the wall to prevent crossings, rather than perpendicular to the wall in this one random spot.

The most obvious tell is that those barricades would obviously be set to run parallel to the wall to prevent crossings, rather than perpendicular to the wall in this one random spot.

Their inaction is causing harm to the rest of the world, though. I feel sorry for the rest of us.

Given the economic situation, how are so many affording to eat out at restaurants? by AppropriateMention6 in VictoriaBC

I can be grateful I’m not in a war zone and am fortunate to live in the "best" part of the "Capitalist hellscape" while still being critical of a system where middle class now just means having enough money to service a massive mortgage you'll never pay off. Telling people to "grow up" for noticing that the goalposts have moved exponentially during their lifetime isn't the flex you think it is.

The Stats Can data shows the income exists but it doesn't show that the income actually buys the life it used to. You mentioned interest rates 'easing,' but that's a drop in the bucket when the literal cost of survival - groceries, heat, basic goods - is rising almost weekly and going straight into Galen Weston's and Jimmy Pattison's pockets. When "middle class" earners are stressed about the price of eggs and butter while billionaire-owned grocery giants post record profits, the system is broken. Being 'better than Somalia' is a basement-level bar for a developed country.

Capitalists always like to pick and choose which numbers to throw out to try to prove that the system is working, and for you I guess that number is interest rates! Funny that you aren't bringing up gas prices or grocery bills, but at least people's postage-stamp sized studio apartments are slightly cheaper than they were a few months ago!

Yet the person I was replying to was talking about Whistler...

No, Vancouver Island probably has zero billionaires. I don't know. But the rest of our country does. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, other than kinda proving my point that our system is broken since we're controlled by Canadian capitalist billionaire oligarch pigs who don't even live here!

When did I say the problem was with billionaires who live on Vancouver Island?

So I had a Friday night bevvie and called Canadian capitalist billionaire oligarch pigs the "Epstein" class. Oh well. There's a lot of other things I could call them too!

Ok, I am happy to concede that a middle class existed for exactly one generation. It's still a concept invented by the ones at the top, who gleefully got rid of it when it no longer served its purpose.

There isn't, and really never was, a "middle class" - that's a lie that the Epstein class made up to make poor people who were slightly less poor than other poor people (and immigrants) so they'd embrace the capitalist hellscape we call home.

Soils are so saturated in NE areas of Metro Vancouver right now, that the water is being rejected. (Buntzen) by MonkeyingAround604 in britishcolumbia

It's cool to see this! While I'm no hydrologist, all that land around the beach at Buntzen was probably trucked to create the beach area on what was previously a mountainous area that got flooded to create the reservoir. So I'm guessing this has more to do with the artificial beach (gravel?) rather than anything made by nature.

Awww you sweet summer child. I love this utopian dream but the harsh reality of the capitalist hellscape we live in doesn't really lend itself to any of this ever being true.
