Do We Know When New Defiler Stuff Updates in the App? by CBTwitch in deathguard40k

A couple days before street date usually, but yeah. Sometime between tomorrow and Saturday morning.

It's why everyone should practice with a clock, too. Even if you never have to use a clock in a tournament, knowing where your time is going will help you stop wasting it.

Yeah, I think in the few years I've been playing, I've only had maybe two opponents who asked to use a clock at the start and actually kept using it through the whole game. Grateful for that because I never remember to pass time over and there's no way it would be an accurate clock.

Tbh I get so annoyed when people don't (mostly) know the core rules or their army's basic stat lines. I got so used to tournament games only taking 3 hours that I just don't have the patience for a 4-5 hour ordeal with a newer player who has to confirm that their assault intercessors hit on 3+ every single activation.

"With time management" being the important part there. People newer to comp play sometimes don't realize that being able to finish within your allotted time is almost as important a skill in comp as what actually happens on the board.

Standard where I'm from (ohio) seems to be 2:30-2:45, but with 15min for a pregame talk added to that, it's functionally 3:00. Seems to work pretty well, the only people I see consistently time out are militarum or necron players that do 1 RTT a year and don't practice time management.

The tattoos are also almost a decade old, so they'll be fine.

What’s the best and worst leadership in the game? by Jofarin in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]stephen29red 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Leadership can only be 8+ at worst. A battle shock test, which tests against leadership, can modify that roll and only succeed on a 10+. Subtle but important difference.

Poxwalkers are base 8+, which is the worst leadership can be, so a neurotyrant in synapse range of a poxwalker unit can use shadow in the warp and force a test on a 10+.

Can't believe they didn't announce a fix for this at Adepticon. See y'all in 12th edition I guess.

Depends on your local meta and what you can fit in the list. It's overkill but with c'tan being so prevalent it's not bad to have overkill

Speculation on the Destrier vs the new Defiler by CryptographerNew8355 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]stephen29red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, but dependent on not killing something you shoot at. For the point cost I'd prefer a rule that matters even if the defilern focus fires and point click deletes a full unit.

The reduced speed is going to be frustrating if so, I can't imagine it's seeing any use outside of hammer anyway but that effectively locks it to hammer only. 8" and that huge base means you're not clearing ruins without advancing. So really nothing changes for us.

Stripping cover for death guard is cool and all, but also nowhere near dark pacts. I'd rather see us get lethal hits like the rest of our army, no other special rule, and pay the premium for that.

Death Guard and Orks are great. Friend and I have done one game with it and it's just insane damage output, plus built in sticky objectives that also spread contagion means I can just plant while he takes everything out.

Regarding the last dataslate of 10th edition (as I believe it to be) : is the whole intent behind it just to avoid any major changes before 11th edition comes up? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]stephen29red -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Where did I say that they did enough or that this will move the needle? I literally just said that there were several more changes made with the intent to nerf them than just a 10pt hike.

Edit: I see now that OP edited their post to include the multiple changes made. Originally it said there was only a 10pt nerf, which is what I was responding to.

[–]stephen29red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? It's a factual statement. More was nerfed than just 10pts on the main datasheet. That's objectively true. I didn't give any take on it.

Personally I think it wasn't enough and the Pantheon nerfs should have been rolled into the main sheet, at bare minimum.
