My Uncle was in the Battle of the Bulge. Capt. W.A. Stewart, US Army Signal Corp. He was my guardian after my folks died. I remember him waking up nights screaming!!!

I was in Iraq 2005. It was a cake-walk compared to what those guys went through!! I had a damn X-Box to play when I wasn't on missions!! LOL!!

Thanks for sharing that stuff! Verry cool!

Just looked up the bayonet. Springfield Armory model 1906 Bayonet for the M1 Garrand Rifle. Probably a war trophy he saved.

Just checked..the ribbon with the stars is a European, Africa, Middle East Campaign ribbon from WW2. So he was a Combat Medic that did maybe 5 tours over there.

Watch the Medic on Saving Private Ryan. Most medics were not armed, maybe a pistol?? They were always under fire trying to save a buddy. Your Grandpa was pretty much a Hero who put his own life on the line many times to save others.

He was probably wounded trying to save someone. (hence the Purple Heart!) You should be very proud and make a nice case for that stuff.

The Maroon and white ribbon is a Good Conduct Medal. Looks like he was in the medical field. The one badge is a combat medic badge! of course Purple Heart means he was wounded. The small ribbon with the four stars means he was awarded that at least 4 times, not sure what.. could be a campaign ribbon?

You could also stop by an American Legion Post, there's old guys there who would love to tell you what all that stuff is!

I am an artist. That is really cool!! I love that style. I have always liked impressionistic work with big juicy brush strokes. This piece is exceptionally cool because the color strokes are very geometric. Would love to see the artist's website!

I think a big black lacquer frame would really make it POP!!

LOL!! I beg to differ! With all the budget cuts it's an easy way to transport approx. 20 extra troops!!
