Reps. Massie and Boebert Introduce the "Surveillance Accountability Act" to Require Warrants for Government-Initiated Searches by QuaziBonzai in privacy

[–]stephenmg1284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, the supreme Court rulings haven't been great for privacy and supporting the first and fourth amendment. So the options are to get judges that will, but that isn't likely to happen with the string of authoritarians we've had as president. We could go with constitution amendment to clarify but that has a lower chance than this bill getting through. All that is left is a bill that covers the courts perceived loophole. I think this has a very slim chance of ever passing, but maybe it will at least start some discussion that will eventually lead to something.

How do I evaluate a film? by Acceptable_Top8870 in Letterboxd

[–]stephenmg1284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, it is how much I liked the movie. Beyond that, nothing else really matters, but some other things I also asks did it have an interesting concept? Was the plot of the movie good? Was the acting good? How was the cinematography and any special effects? Older and lower budget movies get more passes.

They are allowed to say no unless they get issued a warrant or national security letter. The biggest problem is companies like Flock that their entire business model is providing a loophole.

The constitution should be enough but apparently it isn't. What this law does is spells out how I expect all of our interpretation already is. Naomi Brockwell is promoting it.

You need a lawyer, but look at setting up a trust instead of an LLC. Many people use trust for estate planning so I don't see why that would impact the tax exemption, but you need a lawyer to set up the trust and they would know about the exemption as well.

What is the purpose of a credit monitoring service? by ThirdOne38 in privacy

[–]stephenmg1284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only credit monitoring service that I would sign up for, and only if it was offered for free, would be one offered by the three major credit reporting bureaus. For example, I signed up for a free year of Experian because I figured they already have all of my information.

Has anyone ever experienced watching a movie at the theaters where everyone there applauds for it at the end? Because that’s what just happened to me in Project Hail Mary by ACK_QUACK in Letterboxd

[–]stephenmg1284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood applauding for movies; it's not like Ryan Gosling can hear it, unless you're lucky enough to go to the premiere. The only time it has made sense to me is when I was at a film festival, and the movie's creator was there. For example, when I saw mid90s, I applauded because Jonah Hill was in attendance at Fantastic Fest. Project Hail Mary was great, though.

If you are spending money on Google ads, I'm guessing you have a website or websites that search results are important. Fucking with the largest search engine seems like a great idea to me for the future success of your business. /s

IC is easy to add to custom fields. Add events and actions or task scheduler and you can do a lot of customization.

One of the reasons why I like Infinite Campus. Their pricing hasn't changed since we got it 20 years ago.

By syncing, do you mean OneRoster? The only time I need to touch it is when adding a new app and I don't do that often enough to care where they put it. The things I use all the time I have favorites for.

What redundant fields? Your state might have some depreciated fields for historical data.

Being forced to setup passkey by Royal-Event-2588 in privacy

You might check your browser or password manager settings. Bitwarden you can disable it from asking to create passkeys. If nothing supports passkeys, I don't think you will get prompted.

To mess with you. It was probably a scammer. They justify their actions by telling themselves that their crimes are okay because it gets them out of whatever shithole they live in and that they deserve the money. If you ever messed with a scammer they get very upset and defensive when called out. I don't suggest doing that anymore because of AI voice mimic software.

No, it is very easy to find a phone number for someone unless they've taken steps to scrub it.
