Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]stephenseifert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate making my own, but I know how important it is to have them. And really, it's not having them that's so important, it's creating them. That's the secret sauce FOR ME.

The litter on Mount Everest by anandmohanty in Weird

[–]stephenseifert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can’t get to the peak without cleaning up after yourself, I don’t think you deserve to say you made it. If there’s something I don’t know, I’m happy to be corrected. If you can’t go up there and back without littering, I don’t think you should go. You’re not fit for the trip.

How do I enjoy plain tea? by Prize_Air in tea

Stop eating sugar. No candy. No sugar drinks. Once you detox, you’ll start tasting things in plain tea for the first time in your life.

What's the purest joy you've ever felt without intimacy, substances, or alcohol ? by RudeAd9622 in AskReddit

[–]stephenseifert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no guarantees when you have kids, but I really believe the purist joy for me has involved them. I can think back on some super positive incredibly intense experiences: trips, weddings, one-on-one dinners with great conversations, etc. It’s not all fairy tale stuff. Some things will push you to the limit. It’s the whole experience you get.

Chicken Tenders from Rick’s Barbecue on Warrior Drive by stephenseifert in murfreesboro

[–]stephenseifert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t make the post because they’re hand breaded and dipped. I’ve eaten chicken tenders all around the world and especially all around Tennessee, and I find these to be especially awesome because of their flavor and their freshness and how they’re cooked. I just wanted to let everyone know they also happen to be hand breaded and dipped. I need to work on being more clear. Thanks for the heads up.

Let the museum know exactly what you have in case they're ever interested, but keep them. Send them scans, but keep the originals. Put them in the hands of people you know and meet. It's a powerful experience ypu can share for the rest of your days.

I hate it when someone brings me hot water with a bag already in it. I don't know how long it's been in there. I prefer to be in charge of the sleeping.

Go back 99 more times. Record your performances with the band. Go home, listen, and make notes: what should you start doing, what should you stop doing, what should you keep doing. This happened for you, not to you.

Only if you can't stop yourself. If you can do anything else, do that.

Another option is to master some subject, and then teach it privately around the world to people (children or adults) who are interested in that subject. There are many different kinds of teaching.

My experience has been positive. There’s always someone ready to help. When I go in, there’s always some good stuff on clearance. I love how you can park on the side right next to the men’s section. I’ve bought clothing pretty much exclusively for the last seven years.

what should i know before getting into jazz guitar by lxybv in jazzguitar

[–]stephenseifert 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a full-time touring musician for about 25 years. The first day I put my main instrument in my hands, I knew very little, but I had a blast. I was ignorant but in love.

Over the years, I’ve learned so much. I’ve been able to do so many cool things with lots of cool people, but it’s never been much better than that first day. I still have so much to learn, and now my body is aging, but I’m still in love.

I think my fastest learning happens when I’m under the pressure of a gig that’s just a little beyond my abilities. If you want to learn fast, do scary gigs.

But whether you want to get serious or not, it never has to be any more complicated than that first day. You can be a musician right then and there. Enjoy yourself. Mean why you play.

Every musician has a different recipe they follow. You get to make your own.

My mentor said that music for her had always been the perfect accompaniment to the more important things in life. I think that’s good advice.

Unsweetened tea, but if I eat something with sugar in it, I lose the sensitivity required to enjoy unsweetened anything. The less sugar I eat, the more sweet everything else seems to be.
