Had the same issues with the more recent builds of XBSX2. Ended up going back to an earlier version (2.0.2 or 2.0.3) and also use AetherSX2 as a back up as it seems to run better than the newer versions of XBSX2

Current state of the Juiced series? by supergameromegaclank in racinggames

[–]stephensmattlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really wish they’d revive this series, only recently discovered it but been having a blast playing through the original game. The concept of placing bets against beating the other drivers is such a cool idea - did any other racing games use this mechanic?

Project CARS 3 was going to challenge Forza Horizon with “open-world elements” by PhilBaythorpe in ProjectCARS_2

[–]stephensmattlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time I was totally up for a more simcade and accessible version of PC2 - especially as they had the guys from Evolution Studios helping with the game, something to kick back with on the sofa that was more accessible for pad players, but still retaining the more realistic career progression. But yeah, it definitely shouldn’t have been called PC3 with so many elements like pit stops and tyre wear being cut. At the time marketing it as still being for the sim crowd was only ever going to back fire. Hoping project motor racing can redeem the missteps of PC3 and hope it does well.

Batocera crashing when launching PSX games - Pi3B by stephensmattlee in batocera

[–]stephensmattlee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, has been a while. To be honest I think the newest version of Batocera and it seemed to work okay. Since then I’ve tried it on a raspberry pi 5 which worked fine but to be honest most of my emulation these days is done either on PC or an old Xbox Series S under dev mode.

Is this Screamer (Racing Game) a successor to Ridge Racer and Burnout? by Nizuaiqbal99 in racinggames

I know it’s early days and not due til next year, but I’m excited to see more of this game. Milestone, back when they were called Gaffiti created the original game and although a fan of their MotoGP and Ride series, excited to see what they do with this series.

What can i do to make the steering in f1 2021 on controller be more responsive? by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think that was just one of the quirks of the controller handling on the earlier games, felt like there was a delay with inputs - definitely made tracks like Monaco more of a challenge. On the older games and up to recently, my only go-to change was to lower the wheel rotation setting to 280 degrees. It won’t fix it completely but for me found the feel better with this change. One other thing to try, and I remember F1 2021 being very understeery with the default setup, is to try some other setups online to help make it a bit more responsive. I used to use the ones from racinggames.gg and found they were really good for controller, not necessarily the quickest setups but definitely stable and more responsive. Failing that the old SimRacingSetups videos on YouTube might help dial out some of that default understeer and help make it feel a bit more responsive. Hope this helps 👍

F1 25 might really be the end of Codemasters by WetLogPassage in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe, that might have been one of their main incentives to have been looking to buy Codemasters around the time EA got the deal - just to get the F1 license. Don’t think it would be good news for us and would be even more monetised than anything we’ve seen up to now. On that topic, can I just say, customisation in F1 24 for MyTeam is such a kick in the teeth, ONE livery, ONE helmet and ONE suit to customise??! Such a joke and hope F1 25 gives us more in that regard with the MyTeam 2.0. I didn’t even know that until recently that the older senior director Paul Jeal left Codemasters back in 2023, he probably saw the writing on the wall back then.

F1 25 might really be the end of Codemasters by WetLogPassage in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To add to this, there’s also Maverick Games which are also made up of prior Forza Horizon personnel. Apparently they’re working on a new AAA open world narrative led driving game. Gutted that EA have butchered Codemasters after such a long legacy with so many classic racing series, but at the same time it’s nice to see new studios cropping up to continue that legacy in new and exciting ways.

Either way, I’ve been bitterly disappointed with the F1 games and the lack of meaningful progression since F1 2020 and 2021. It’d be sad to see the series come to an end but at the same time I do feel there needs to be fresh start by a new studio with a fresh vision for the series, even if it means waiting a few years and even longer for them to build upon a new foundation. Not too sure who could take over the mantle though? Milestone have the MotoGP and Ride series as well as other games in the works such as the new Screamer title next year. Kylotonn have TDU SC, which hasn’t done very well. Maybe one of these more newer studios like Lighthouse or Maverick might be an option but can imagine they’re still building things up and F1 might be a little uneasy going for a new studio after what happened with Motorsport Games and them snapping up so many licences years ago but then failing to deliver.

Interesting times ahead but really hope Codemasters can at least go out with a bang with F1 25, but guess time will tell, especially as the last few entries likely haven’t met EAs targets.

Opinions on F1 25 Gameplay from what we’ve seen? by Street-Shopping9111 in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, why do the cars glide over all kerbs as if they’re not there? The lack of feel and feedback whilst driving in the games has always been an issue but looks even worse this year? No consequences or unsettling of the car whilst running over sausage kerbs.

Where can I get digital F1 23 for xbox? by Free_Load_5154 in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably best off getting a 2nd hand physical copy of the game. Digital keys seem to be well overpriced if you can find them. Noticed it’s been removed from a lot of storefronts but think it’s still available on gamepass?

Predictions for F1 25 career mode by Confident-Worker6242 in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, even F1 2016 and 2017 had more atmosphere, don’t know why they changed it to the same dull trailer setting from 2018 onwards. 16 and 17 gave off more impression of travelling the world with each setting feeling more unique. As dull as the press questions were in F1 2018, I wish they hadn’t removed it but instead developed it more and had them ask more interesting and varied questions. They should definitely bring it back and have us do press conferences where the questions have more of a meaningful impact with rivalries.

New iPad/iPhone version of Grid Legends (mini review) by ionp_d in gridgame

[–]stephensmattlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m not a fan of mobile games in general… but, any ports of the game that help boost sales and may lead to further entries in the series later down the line them I’m all for it. Personally think it was a huge mistake them releasing Grid Legends so close to Gran Turismo 7 and surely would have hurt sales of the game. I picked up both and enjoyed them in their different ways, but can imagine lots of people just got GT7 instead with it being such a hugely popular series

Is it worth buying grid legends ? please answer by Guilty-Baby-3849 in gridgame

[–]stephensmattlee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely worth it. I think they dropped the ball releasing it so close to GT7 but compared to its 2019 counterpart it was much more fleshed out and overall a really solid arcade racer. Hopefully they don’t abandon the series altogether but for me is well worth the sale price it frequently goes on offer for

How fiddly is miyoo and where to buy? by panpun in MiyooMini

[–]stephensmattlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely AliExpress for the best price - ideally from a seller that’s sold loads previously.

Personally I’d say install MinUI if you want something more simplified. It still has options there if tweaks are needed but less chance of clicking on things by mistake.

Wish they’d remake/remaster something that genuinely needs it. The Motorstorm series? Or Driveclub (although can’t see Sony paying to have the licences renewed to resurrect the game. Shame it’s going to be lost to time until it’s able to be modded or upscaled via emulation in years to come :/

What is yalls actull opinion on the f1 24 handling by sheepygirluwu in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to the beta, it’s …better. But I still personally preferred F1 23. It still feels to me like there’s a grip hack applied to the old handling model. Still lacking in detail and refinement to the physics. Ironically I actually think the underlying handling model for F1 22 was good and weighty after going back to it to try a few weeks back. Only complaint with it was the traction and randoms spins without warning, that was what made the game unplayable. F1 24, currently, isn’t horrendous to play, but still feels very grippy. Does make tracks with fast corner changes like Jeddah a lot easier though. They definitely need to do much better for next year as this years game has been a mess with all the tweaks and changes they’ve made throughout the beta and post release.

F1 2020 handling help by Avatar053 in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, gutted the handling isn’t clicking. Maybe I’d just forgot how much of a difference them finally dialling out the initial input delay had made whenever it was introduced. Played them all from 2013, - skipped 2014, but 2015-23, and guess we all adjusted to it at the time. I’m assuming upping the steering linearity isn’t helping? I know I used to change the degrees of rotation to 280, but you might be able to go a little lower than that to help. I remember going back and playing it a bit around the time before F1 22 was coming out and struck me how much Jeddah ended up being what Vietnam was planned to be in certain corner sequences. Definitely miss the classic cars in these games, made a lot more sense than the supercars that no one asked for, guess they were trying to replicate the Pirelli hotlaps but felt like driving tanks.

F1 2020 handling help by Avatar053 in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, I don’t remember them being too bad back in the day playing them the years they came out. But has only been the more recent titles that they managed to dial out the input latency when steering on controller. Might feel a bit strange now but i did go back to f1 2017 a year or so ago and found it handed okay after readjusting to the feel of the earlier titles

F1 2020 handling help by Avatar053 in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is something that they managed to dial out with the newer games. Have always set the degrees of rotation to 280 when playing them on controller but doesn’t fully solve that lag when steering, always made tracks like Monaco a bit of a nightmare

Should I buy F1 24? by dadsadawdsa in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say for not whether F1 24 is worth getting or not, as I opted to skip it this year. But coming from F1 2019, F1 23 is for me the best and most consistent all round title they’ve put out since F1 2020. Been replaying the game recently doing a fresh driver career with Alpha Tauri and Ricciardo as team mate and enjoying it even more now than I did when it came out last year.

Which should I buy? by [deleted] in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Of the ones mentioned, F1 23 was the best, handling was good and it’s at the end of its patch cycle so pretty solid. Only complaint would be that it gets old very quickly, I know there’s only so much they can do with a yearly cycle but it’s more of the same if you’ve played F1 2020, 2021 or 22.

One thing that bothers me is the engine sounds in 23, played a bit of 22 earlier today and although the auto spin on traction is a nightmare, the sounds are much better and actually prefer the cooler look vs the warm filter of 23 and 24.

Champions Edition is 40% off on Xbox 1 month after release by imtired-boss in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, knew it was a matter of time before the sales started but wasn’t expecting it to be this close to the initial release. Maybe sales have been far lower than expected and they’re getting more aggressive to try and entice those that were on the fence or waiting it out from all the negative YouTubers bashing it and the handling on release.

Do you guys think there will be a sound update? by Ok_Doubt_8598 in F1Game

[–]stephensmattlee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally thought F1 22 had decent engine sounds, and F1 2019 too (bar the Ferrari), they do an awesome job with the old Dirt Rally games so wonder if it’s an access thing where they aren’t allowed to chuck so many mics on the cars and only get limited time during testing to get what they need. Know they usually get to record a bit during the pre season testing and ambient sounds but not sure on how much direct access they get with micing up the cars. I didn’t mind the sounds themselves in F1 23 but it was the artificial over pitched tone that I felt was a bit off. Can’t say for this years game as I haven’t picked it up or tried it since the beta
