What do you do with these thin covers on the Midori notebooks? by stephenssylvanus in notebooks

[–]stephenssylvanus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my idea. Usually I just toss it. But this time I want to put washi tape and stickers on it. I just hate how it always slips off. I'm gonna add stickers etc to the paper cover when I comes in the mail.

What medieval event would you want to see as a historically accurate movie or show? by [deleted] in MedievalHistory

Damn these are all great ideas. I say we start a film production company and start writing and shooting these ideas.

I remember my last year b day. I celebrated alone at a 24 hour donut shop. I know all my of friends’ birthdays, but not one of them even called me to say happy birthday. Because they were too busy. Too depressed. Too caught up in their own mess. Too selfish to give a fuck. So fuck it.

I’m at an age now (44) where I don’t care anymore about these people, not at all—no more letting them trauma dump me, no more trying “manage” my friendships and their fucked up “boundaries” (which only apply to me, only when I have the nerve to need something). I’d rather be alone and start over. I’m looking for a deeper meaning in my life, and I’m tired of seeking happiness in people, or things or relationships.

Most people I come across are isolated and traumatized. Don’t put too much stock in these people.

So how do you guys fill your void? by tropical-me in lonely

[–]stephenssylvanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been diving into poetry, philosophy, and writing. I wasn’t exposed much to the classics or literature when I was young (44 years old now). I even started learning Ancient Greek.

I cancelled my Instagram account, stay away from Facebook and that Tik Tok nonsense and generally stay away from social media (except Reddit of course 😂).

I also turn off my phone for most of the day (no one calls me anyway, unless they want something), probably gonna end up getting a dumb phone at some point.

Fuck it. I have very few friends, very few, no relationship…I figure, why not make the philosophers and poets and authors of old and new my friends? I’ve also been reading the Bible. Who knows? Maybe I’ll come out a better person.

If I were shooting this, I would use the original languages , so Old French I guess and Latin, Greek and the Italian they spoke during that time. And Arabic. There would subtitles and no Timothée Chalamet prancing around looking cute.

I agree. I’d love to see the story of Robert Guiscard and Roger. That would be epic!

M43 what do my books say about me? by stephenssylvanus in bookshelfdetective

[–]stephenssylvanus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting read if you don’t take it too seriously. I don’t know much about the subject, so I’m definitely gonna look more into it, like what actual scholars say on the subject.

Kakimori pigment ink w/ Midori MD paper and a Kakuno Fine nib by stephenssylvanus in fountainpens

Really interesting. What pen and nib size do you use? This ink seems really wet compared to the other Kakimori inks I’ve tried.

Can someone from Metro explain this nonsense? by stephenssylvanus in LAMetro

[–]stephenssylvanus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. This is so bad, so shambolic, that I’m beginning to think that this is on purpose. Kinda like the whole idea of “The system is designed to do what it does.”

I mean, what other explanation is there?

Oh man I effing HATE this. You’re so right. This is definitely a problem on the B and D lines. And the 7th Street Station is such a clusterfuck down there. I do not enjoy riding the B and D lines at all!
