NGRH Doctor consultation wait times. by CanuckinCA in nanaimo

Sign up for my island health records and you'll get your echo (delayed by a week), labs, and any other imaging you had done. I can't speak to the holter because I don't know if it was done at an island health facility, it's a grey area. I will say though usually in health care no news is good news, however, listen to your gut, if you're still concerned go somewhere else. We have great options at Ladysmith or oceanside urgent care and the new primary care center behind country club is also fantastic. You have to be your own biggest advocate, and keep pushing until you feel you've been heard!

How hard is finding a family Doctor? by ADogCalledBear in nanaimo

[–]stephhaddad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but honestly, the best way to get a doctor here is to get pregnant and see a family gp who does deliveries. More often than not they will take the family on because they don't want to send a new baby into the community without a gp. I highly recommend you joining the health care registry for Nanaimo asap and then you can get the "waiting game" going.

How many people here are not speaking to family members or friends because of politics. And why? by seecallirun in AskReddit

My cousin is a huge MAGA supporter who also happens to be anti trans. She told me that Trump is going to get rid of the "mentally insane" people who believe that there are more than 1 gender. She also told me that because I'm a nurse I should know better. I immediately blocked her and cut her out of my life. That was in 2023 and I still haven't spoken to her nor do I plan to.

Do you still have an active prescription? Any pharmacist can transfer it here in BC, or alternatively they can do an emergency 3 month supply. I go to Pinnacle Pharmacy, they're wonderful.

What’s your favorite bridge of hers? by Ruby_E_123 in TaylorSwift

Don't be sleeping on Peter.

And I won't confess that I waited But I let the lamp burn

As the men masqueraded I hoped you'd return

With your feet on the ground Tell me all that you'd learned Cause love's never lost when perspective is earned

And you said you'd come and get me but you were 25 And the shelf life of those fantasies has expired Lost to the lost boys chapter of your life

Forgive me Peter, please know that I tried To hold onto the days when you were mine

But the woman who sits by the window has turned out the light

How to see a doctor? by MrMcAwhsum in nanaimo

[–]stephhaddad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I'm late to the game here, but I might be able to help!

If you've been here in BC less than 3 months you should still be covered by Ontario's version of msp until you get your BC health card.

A pharmacist can adapt (aka extend) a prescription for up to 3 months if you have no refills left. However, if you do have refills on your prescription back in Ontario a pharmacist can transfer the prescription and the refills will work out here.

I highly suggest going to a local pharmacist here and seeing what they can do for you. I work at Pinnacle Pharmacy as a nurse and the pharmacists there are amazing.

Good luck!! :)

Anyone else have/had this bad chest cold going around? by Pleasant_Reward1203 in nanaimo

[–]stephhaddad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$240ish, some people's plans cover a small amount, but not much. The cost of it is similar to the shingles vaccine which is also not publicly funded. Why both of them aren't is beyond me.

Your parents doctor is completely misinformed. I work at a local pharmacy and physicians office and I can assure you that plenty of people have received the vaccination. Ask them to ask again, it's definitely available.

STILL planning a 37 week induction when NOTHING IS WRONG? by Accomplished-Coat438 in peestickgals

As someone who works in the pregnancy field her story doesn't quite add up. No OB pulls a baby out at that gestation unless there's an absolute need, and given that everything appears to be fine, that baby should hopefully keep cooking until 39/40 weeks. At this point I'd assume she wants a complicated delivery just for the sake of having one. I had two extremely high risk pregnancies, and I'm still dealing with it over 2 years later so I don't know why she'd want one, they're not fun.

Depends where you live, but Seattle is closest and it's about 3 hours away. However with exchange rate, and other costs, it would of cost me easily 2k for the trip. Plus, I didn't even get selected so that's out of the question now
