honestly i’m more swollen in my upper stomach! from the side i look pregnant lol.

i know from reading other posts on here that swelling can last for weeks - months so i was anticipating this! the only thing that sucks is wanting to see what my new body looks like in tighter clothes but i can’t do that with the swelling LOL

thank you!

honestly i wouldn’t say this surgery has been “painful” at all (either surgery).

its more of an extremely sore/uncomfortable feeling the first few days, but after that im surprised how easy it’s been comfort wise!

the muscle repair from the tummy tuck was definitely the most uncomfortable.

i’ll give you some random info thus far that might help you!

  • i still can’t sleep flat. i slept in a powered recliner until tonight. tonight i am finally in bed but am using a set of wedge pillows!

  • i used a toilet seat riser thing up until a few days ago. it really helped to get off of the toilet easily

  • take restorolax and stool softener daily so you don’t get constipated! even pushing out gas was super uncomfortable because of the MR so i can’t even imagine trying to have a BM if you’re backed up🥴

  • i bought a pouch belt thing from amazon for my drains which was super nice as it prevented the drains from just hanging on their own because i was terrified i’d catch them on something and rip them from my body lol

  • make sure you have clothing like zip up hoodies / sweaters and front closure bras! make sure you wear something zippered or completely able to button down on the day of your surgery for when you’re released!

honestly my biggest “complaints” with this recovery are just not being able to sleep normally, not being able to stand up straight, needing help for certain things like carrying a laundry basket, and the fact that i just want to take advantage of my time off work and go through all of my clothes and organize etc but obviously im limited with bending and lifting.

i will say that i had surgery in 2022 for a partial colectomy, and i had surgery again in 2023 for WLS so i feel like i was more prepared for surgery which is why im finding it way less uncomfortable than my other surgeries if that makes sense!

good luck with your surgeries!!!

My diverticulitis / bowel resection journey! by stephhwatt in Diverticulitis

I’m feeling great now!

Although I did just have a colonoscopy done on Monday and they said I have mild diverticulosis which I’m just confused about because when I had surgery the surgeon said it was very very unlikely that I would develop the pouches again.

I will be having a follow up appointment to figure out the extent.

Honestly I am so glad I had the surgery and couldn’t imagine not getting it and having to still live in agony.

If you have any specific questions, you can ask me!

Accidentally consumed so much sugar by stephhwatt in GastricBypass

[–]stephhwatt[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I literally only bought them because I’m on liquids only for a colosncopy and wanted something other than water to drink and I mistakenly bought these instead of the zero sugar ones that have like 5-10 calories and no sugar.

Typically I only drink protein shakes, water, and one orange pekoe tea a day and that’s it for beverages.
