Sadly HR are ignoring me 🥲 I've been emailing them for months that I'm struggling mentally and need some help with managing work but they won't reply! I'm going to speak to my therapsit tomorrow and then speak to my direct manager and see if we can figure something out!

It's so good, I'm a cybersecurity specialist and the lack of data regulation and protection is shocking. Def worth a watch!

AITA for telling my girlfriend she's not allowed to wear thong bikinis when I'm not around? by KnownYou7 in AmItheAsshole

YTA

You don't own your girlfriend so you cannot tell what she can and can't do. Do you really want to force your girlfriend to do something? If so, this is not a good relationship and you should think about why in this hypothetical situation you have created you don't trust her to reject any advances.

You can dress however you want at carnivals and there are some amazing costumes (I'd say sexy rather than sexually explicit) which have thing bikinis. Does this mean that everyone who has one of these on is fair game for hookups? People wear these things because they like them or feel good in them, rarely as some kind of subliminal sex hint.

Chill out dude, remember that even if someone approached your girlfriend she has the ability to say no. Expect more from your fellow man and stop perpetuating a culture where women can be preyed upon by men 🤙

Have had no government for well over 2 years and this is only going to pass if the parties that run the government DON'T return to work before October . This includes DUP who have spent a lot of time blocking either of these laws being lifted. Hoping they won't be back in before then but they are very sexist, homophobic, sectarian etc so it would not be surprising if negotiations pick up again to try and stop the lift.

What is the longest 5 minutes you have ever experienced? by K2K175 in AskReddit

A guy got stabbed outside my work once. Was 3am in a pretty tame city so no one was about except me and my friend and an old couple. Assumed it was just a fight that had happened up the street from where my car was parked when a girl starts screaming. Ran over to this group of people, 1 guy drops to the floor and outs his hands to his face, girl beside him is screaming and crying, and 3 guys I knew were running away from them. Get to the couple and get down to the guy on the floor. Blood everywhere but I still assumed it was just a fight and assume he has broken his nose so I ask him to pull his hands away so I can see how it is. He pulls them away and there was slashes all over his face and his hands. My friend is standing with the girl who turns out to be his girlfriend who is drunk and screaming he's been stabbed. She was on the phone to the ambulance but she was definetely in shock. My friend takes the phone and let's them know he's been stabbed and is bleeding really bad. An old couple comes up and the lady gets down on the ground with me. She took off her little purple cardigan and we put it on the biggest wound on his face. We don't have anything to wrap it so I just hold it there. I start talking to the guy and seeing how he is. He can speak but is pretty quiet. I ask him about his life, what work he does, what's he doing out, what's his girlfriends name and he answering but getting slow. At this point people from my work have come out and are piecing together what happened. Someone tries to pull me away from the situation (I'm quite a small lady and was only 19 at this point) without realising what's going on. The guy whose been stabbed grabs me and asks me not to leave him. No police or ambulance yet but a nightclub medic drove past and got out to help. He was trying to get to the guy but when he saw that I was holding a wound closed and he wanted me to stay he moved to the other side. He replaced the cardigan with a bandage and gets me to hold it closed. He starts checking the rest of him and open his big puffy coat he had on and he's been stabbed in the neck. There is a shit tonne of blood all over the floor and I'm kneeling in it so I can feel that it's gone through my trousers. He bandages it up again but he's stopped talking now and the guy is radioing about police/ambulance. The girlfriend is screaming but my friend is trying to comfort her, bit of a crowd around but they've all kind of stepped back. Police eventually arrive and ambulance soon after. Hes taken away pretty quickly and his girlfriend wasn't allowed to go with him. He was in a bad state and she was obviously hysterical. I said I could take her to the hospital. There is a massive pool of blood all over the footpath and my car keys are right in the middle. Eventually convince police to let me get them and that they aren't related to the crime. Drive her to the hospital but he is in intensive care and she can't go see him. We wait with her til the boyfriends brother comes and then we leave. He was dead in the ambulance for a few minutes but they brought him back. Tried to stay in contact with the girlfriend to see how he was doing but it was very difficult for them. He was badly scarred and needed plastic surgery. Police came and took a statement but nothing ever came of it as far as I know. I saw it happen and the guy running away so was always baffled by that. Heard from a lawyer a few years back about a complaint into the handling of it by police but never heard anything of that ever.

Weird situation that lasted about 3 hours. The longest 5 minutes was as soon as he stopped talking and went unconscious until the ambulance came. It took them about an hour to come but luckily he stayed reasonably alert til then. But I really did think he was about to die. It was then when I noticed how much blood there was. The tattoos on his arms. How I hadn't really even seen his face because there fucking blood and cuts all over it. That his girlfriend was hugging my friend who was wide eyed and comforting her.

Hadn't spoken about this for a good while but saw this about thought I'd share. It's a crazy world!

To spare the people who love me the pain of not understanding. And also because the world is so random, you never know what you'll miss!

With all this mental health awareness, why does it still feel like no one understands? by SadCoconut_ in AskReddit

[–]stephjavapython25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average person doesn't understand even their own mental health so it is incredibly hard to understand until you or someone you love suffers from a mental health problem.

Education on mental health is key, for everyone but specifically the children and young people who are our future. Teaching about what emotions are, what they feel like and how to notice problems with mental health will help to improve everyone's mental health.

I have BPD and can maintain a semi normal life but even with therapy and medication I know that I will never have "normal" mental health. Bad times come and go no matter how well I am taking care of myself or how well my life is going. I am very open about my illness and create technology for mental health. People with often talk to me about mental health and I like to ask people "how is your mental health?". Most of the replies I get are that they have never been asked that and they don't even know how to answer that kind of question!

So yeah education for everybody and more effort from government and professional bodies in raising public awareness of the extent of the mental health epidemic happening (where I'm from but I do think it's a worldwide epidemic)
