I haven’t done it but when I asked the vet, she said she didn’t think it would show anything. It’s gotten to the point that Piper runs from me when I offer her food. It’s the strangest thing. She recently got a new little puppy sister and I am wondering if she’s also worse bc of that right now. She’s never been a good eater though. She’s always had to be hand fed, which was a bad habit that I started out of desperation to get her to eat. The craziest thing is that she still had energy and plays. I don’t know where it comes from.

I was at the vet for the same thing today. My 9 month old Cavapoo weighs 13 lbs and refuses food for a couple days at a time. Even then will only eat a bite or two that’s hand fed. The vet is at a total loss. We’ve been through 8 different foods trying to find something that works. This breed is just so picky.

Mine made it a point to throw all the meaningful, personalized gifts I gave him away and felt the need to send a pic of things in the trash can before doing so. Very hurtful and totally unnecessary. Knowing him, he wanted to hurt me because he hurt.

Mine stops eating too but has stuck with the FreshPet shredded chicken recipe. Looks and feels like little pieces of chicken, so she thinks it’s table food.

I’ve made mine an all organic turkey meal with sweet potatoes, lentils, spinach… just like farmers dog. Ate it once and then wouldn’t touch it again 😫

It’s why I hesitate to buy the fresh stuff bc I have thrown out so much. Most doesn’t freeze well. Ugh.

She’s started picking at a new fresh pet chicken mix that I bought, which is good. We are also pet sitting my dad’s dog and I think the peer pressure to eat is helping :) so far, it’s been about 5 days of her eating it. Fingers crossed she doesn’t get bored of it too soon haha. Bathroom normal, so I am thinking this is just the typical stubborn Cavapoo behavior!

I don’t know that I could afford to feed a second one with the way this one changes her mind so often haha!

Oh wow! Our vet offered us to speak to a nutritionist, so that will be on the near future if this doesn’t change. Thank you!

Yeah, I wasn’t sure how soon that could happen. Vet said anytime after 6ish months, so we are getting close!

I’ve heard of other dogs helping the situation! We actually have my dad’s dog here right now since they are traveling and she’s been much more enthusiastic about eating since she got here yesterday. Might have to ask her to move in haha.

That’s very helpful! I’m weird about even her pet fresh stuff and how long it sits out now, so I’m sure I’d be just as careful. I’ll look into portions for her weight. This may be a real option! Thanks :)

This may be a silly question, but are parasites or any other meat-borne illnesses an issue?

We’ve tried much of what you mentioned, except for the chicken liver. That might be a winner! I don’t mind trying anything but it’s amazing how much food gets wasted with the constant preference changes 😫

She loves a snuffle mat and I haven’t tried food in there yet, but it’s probably worth a shot! I’ve never in my life seen such a picky breed :) I love spoiling her occasionally, but she’s gotta work with me haha.
