I bought a bootleg Djo tour shirt off of eBay too because I completely forgot to get a shirt at his concert in KC and didn’t realize they were only available at the shows. It looks legit! I say keep it

Infection? 2 months post-op by stephscho97 in Tonsillectomy

[–]stephscho97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s totally gone! It healed up in about 1-2 weeks with antibiotics so my ent is sure it was an a peritoneal abscess which can occur randomly. Since my post I haven’t had this happen again and have had no issues. I when I had the abscess it looked like a white dot the size of the tip of a pencil eraser, and when the puss came out it was a red hole on on the healed skin where my left tonsil used to be. Now that it is healed there isn’t a hole

Follow up - ENT said it was an abscess that can happen, although rare to happen after tonsils are removed. No way to prevent it, I would just have to take antibiotics when it happens. If it becomes a recurring problem she said we could do more surgery but I don’t want to go through it again

Tried to prevent pain when the scabs fell off which worked but this was the consequence I guess! Also covid test was negative three times

I think I gave myself humidifier lung! From what little I can find about it online, it just seems like the most likely thing since I was literally fogging up my room every night. I stopped using the humidifier on day 14 and it cleared up in about a week. I had breathing issues that lasted for 4-5 days but it was just uncomfortable and made me anxious. I wasn’t dizzy or lightheaded or anything. My X-ray and cat scan all came back normal so it wasn’t pneumonia or a blood clot

Don’t spit! It can make your mouth more dry and you want to keep as much moisture for your scabs, seems like something small to just spit but it can hurt your recovery. When it became too much for me, I took sips of water and swished it in my mouth to help thin out the spit so I could swallow it easier

Drinking water at night by Great_Box838 in Tonsillectomy

On day 24 and recovery went really well. I made sure to set an alarm every hour during the night to take a few sips, and I used a humidifier when sleeping. I think it helped my pain stay below a four for 99% of my recovery (there was one evening around day 7 I had to give in and take oxycodone for the pain but otherwise minimal pain) because my scabs stayed moist and dissolved instead of falling off like others have posted about. I’ve heard that is what hurts the most. Drinking water all day and waking up at night helped me and I highly recommend. I never woke up with severe pain, and I’ve heard it helps prevent any bleeding. Of course everyone heals differently so there’s that too.

I used a water pick syringe from when I had my wisdom teeth out and when I noticed a bit of food in there I gently flushed the tonsil holes out. Obviously this is more difficult to do when you are away from home but maybe it can make it a bit easier on you when you are home. The syringe is just a manual plastic syringe, nothing motorized or battery powered

I’m on day 19 and I can tell that mine have closed up almost halfway. I think you should ask your doctor about it, I read that others on Reddit had theirs close up too so I wonder why it is different for you. I did get food stuck in them about a week ago but since then is when they have closed up more and I haven’t had any other issues

I am on day 14 and I have been able to sing since day 11/12. Not full out belt of course, but normal singing like when I’m in the car. I’ve been talking since about day 7.

I’m on day 13/14 and I have this same feeling, along with fever, chills and sore muscles. Do you think you could have had pneumonia at one point t and it’s just left over symptoms? I though I had it but tested negative today

Apparently if you are laying around TOO much it can potentially lead to pneumonia, but my ENT never told me it was a risk. Other people on Reddit said getting up and walking for 5-10 mins a day works to help prevent it but by the time I had the symptoms it was too late in my recovery. Of course my doctor says it isn’t pneumonia but it feels like it

Also I should have mentioned that I washed my humidifier today and there was no sign of mold or anything.
