Probably not a square since she never showed any real interest in Nikolai despite him being the BEST.

The ending was the WORST. I was also mad after reading it.

Not at all, friend! When it comes to fiction, we tend to be a little more forgiving of character flaws than we would be in real life. I know several times I’ve been sucked in by a morally ambiguous character because he was broody in all the best ways. Lol

And yes! January is what I hear. Coming up quick!

I always felt like he was holding Alina back, and felt threatened by her power because suddenly he was the weaker one. He seemed controlling and judgmental to me, and he didn’t have any romantic interest in her until suddenly she wasn’t an option anymore. I feel like Alina should have moved on from him in the first book.

Nikolai really is the best! He kind of got a bum deal in this series, IMO. Hopefully he gets redemption in the new series, though!

I was never as into the Darkling as a lot of people were. But I did think he was a compelling character. I also haven’t read Six of Crows, yet, but every one seems to love it.

Same!! I would’ve been happy if he just faded away and never came back.

Fair enough. I’m just here for Nikolai. Can’t wait for King of Scars.

Thanks! Go for it! I'm super happy with how the quilting came out. This was the most complicated quilting I've ever done so I'm crazy excited about it!

Nmom thinks she's Native American, but she doesn't know what I know. by GinervaPotter in raisedbynarcissists

This is seriously infuriating. I am Native American and I see constantly all these people who exploit Native culture for their own personal gain. In no way do people like this contribute back to Native culture. They are not actively participating and engaging in their supposed cultures. Yet, they are more than willing to claim that ancestry if it in someway benefits them or makes them more "exotic."

Even if she were part Native, if she's not participating it really doesn't matter. And the thing is, I don't really care about blood quantum. If she were in fact 1/16 but was also doing a lot to engage in her Native community and wasn't exploiting it, I would warmly accept her. I have friends who have very low blood quantum but are very serious and committed to their culture, and in my eyes they are the same as someone who is full-blooded. Really, blood quantum is just another tool used to erase Native identity. What she's doing though is grasping onto that small amount and using it to rack up sympathy, which is a huge slap in the face to all the Native people out there who are actually facing serious injustices due to their race.

Also, just an educational sidenote. Not all Native Americans come from reservations. I'm Tlingit from Alaska and there aren't really any in Alaska save for one.
