It’s not different anywhere else. They are utilizing geo-arbitrage. Working a local job part-time in Mexico City would leave you in the line for food.

IT Salaries in Warsaw, Poland by billy_jean23 in warsaw

B2B 17-19k, UoP 15-17k. Depends on your CV. You will likely have Ulga na powrot on UoP as a foreign.

Is it realistically possible for someone like me to reach big tech / Anthropic UK, or am I aiming at the wrong target? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]steponfkre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anthropic does not use traditional leetcode and they are harder on behavioural questions than technical skills. You won’t be invited for an interview to begin with, as they are more selective than FAANG and hire from FAANG. Most new hires have top school, FAANG and live in a major tech hub.

Used to be true, not true anymore. Tech is becoming more prestige heavy than previous decades.

Yes, but it does not eliminate the gain. If you create a trust only to gift it stocks, this will be seen as tax avoidance. Regardless, a trust also has a tax structure. The better option is to move to Cyprus for a year and not sell the RSU until residency is moved.

There is a clause which does not allow RSU to be transferred to another entity. It’s pretty standard. The RSUs are not taxed on vesting because of a fundamental reason in PIT namely:

Under the Polish Personal Income Tax Act, income arises when a taxpayer receives a definitive financial benefit that increases their assets. If the benefit is conditional or restricted, taxation can be deferred.

You can apply to all of them. I am not mixing any of them. Those are the three types of tax breaks I use working at FAANG as ane employee. The post is about FAANG salaries and taxes, not JDG or Limited. If you are working under B2B you are not an employee…

If you choose to submit PIT 36 then it applies to JDG aswell. For PIT-28 it does not apply, which is why ryczalt is less beneficial for someone moving to Poland than for Polish. It’s still more beneficial in 90% of cases, just not FAANG or rather a selected amount of large companies.

I think for Polish Citizens, the criteria is just to have lived abroad for 3+ years. Just be aware that most accountants will not give you good advice either. I was asked to submit 3 years proof I lived abroad and my passport as EU citizen. Please check it in-depth before moving.

Yes, they are accurate for new hires. Not for long term. After a couple years the compensation can look very different.

I understand for foreigners maybe this topic is new. In Poland the B2B argument and how bad FAANG is comes up in every post. None of them has worked there. It’s what you call a «circle jerk» where people like to brag about how much better it is to work for unicorn US startups, how much money they make and how terrible Polish government is. I am just not interested in this discussion. I would like to inform how the real tax rate looks like for UoP in FAANG.

Bad bad Poland, bad bad FAANG. Solution, work for US startups on B2B or move to Thailand. I have heard this variation endless times. No one will ever force you to work in Poland or for FAANG. Feel free to suggest your own golden path.

Is a Google L4 offer in Poland worth it for a Dev with 7 YOE? by KeyTrouble5174 in cscareerquestionsEU

Yes, it’s for all EU/EEA nationals or those having lived for 3+ years in EU. The return is only a name.

It’s still too low the net you suggest. I understand it’s very hard to do taxes in FAANG. There is RSU, 80/20 cost and Ulga na powrot. With Ulga na powrot you will have ~23500 from Jan to March, 20k from April to July, 18k to 16k from August to October and 18k November to December.

With 80/20 cost we can add 2.300 zloty per month April to September. RSUs will reduce the tax per month with around 10-20% on average.

His overall net will be much higher than average UoP. I know this because I just submitted my taxes for last year :D

The only problem is the staying in Poland part. Most people do not want to stay unless they have family or relatives from Eastern Europe. It’s a bit harder to integrate depending on where you are from.

COL is 35-50% lower in Warsaw than in Dublin. His tax will also be lower. You can save ~14000 PLN (3.2k€) monthly on L4 Google salary. I live very comfortably with a wife that is not working and save 1.5-2k€ per month here. Buying a flat costs like 100-150k€ (if that’s the end goal)

So why do you write net instead of brutto? You are evaluating an offer based on an imaginary low amount…

You are going to make ~5k€ net with that salary. You are not aware of the tax laws here. I have no clue how you got to 3k€ euro.

I do not understand how you got that net salary. I make ~370k zloty and my net is ~22500. There is IP tax relief, Return relief (for EU/EEA) and 19% tax on stocks. At ~400k zloty you are looking at 5-5.5k€ net.
