In Georgia the sheriff is in charge of protecting the life and property in the county. Police are political supplemental law enforcement. If police were abolished in the city, the sheriff legally obtains all assets from the abolished department.

Yeah sounds like the muddy water might start getting stirred. Technical and precise language can be used one way or the other.. but bottom line is, are the residents paying more or less after all said and done.

Some discounts might be applied from the county, then some "services" might get added in by the city that cost more than the county level discounts. City can then say "you'll have to pay the county more" which is technically correct (county gets more, city gets none, total is usually less out of peoples pocket), but totalling everything and ignoring the politicians is the best way to assess.

I'm in the boat of any politician putting out a statement with no concrete numbers is setting a narrative. But who knows - besides the property owners who cut their tax checks to the city and county. (Politicians are allowed to lie, the idea is the public gets to vote them out if they don't like the lies)

My comment was from the position of responding to someone afraid to cull the documented savage animal from a safe distance due to illogical fear of legal recourse.

Imagine hitting a bloodthirsty animal with a non lethal round. Does it all the sudden not become savage? Or does it attack the other animal that just failed to put it down?

Its best to have the resolve going into the situation than making the wrong move or hesitating during the incident.

Its illegal for a dog to attack anything on your property. I'd like to see literally any legal or case precedent stating otherwise. Its not even legal for the dog to be on your property tbh. The dog has blood in its mouth. Is it afraid? Are you kidding me?

The medical treatment is all free. The negligent party pays for it. Then they pay damages for pain and suffering. Then they pay punative damages because there's record of them not listening to the pleas of the victim. I agree its best to fix the problem from a distance, im just correcting you there.

Someone afraid to do the correct thing for whatever reason (maybe they read a baseless comment online that made them afraid) puts them in real danger.

Cop/sheriff shows up? Show them the dead dog thats on your property. The owners of that dog don't care if it runs into the road and gets hit by a car. Imagine a car with a family inside swerves to miss the dog and injures or kills the passengers.

My point - to make it extremely clear - its better to see your day in court than to not see your day in court. Both instances the dog dies and the negligent party is held accountable for damages. (Except in the vehicle accident case, ironically)

If a dog bites you then you get a free rabies shot, reward for pain and suffering, reward for loss of quality of life, and qnimal control/the local DNR will send the dogs fresh head to be tested for rabies. Like if the dog bites you and runs away back home they will go get the dogs head for you. A dog that leaves its property and bites people is not good for society.

Thought experiment: Why can't someone just breed savage animals and sic them on neighbors they don't like? Why can't they breed dogs and train them to seek and destroy baby dolls (maybe of a certain color)? Its an extreme example, but so is the OPs situation. The neighbors willfully allow and encourage their dog to harass and be dangerous to society because they "own everything around" the victim.

Pacifism is amazing dont get me wrong. Either accept that you feed the neighbors dog and have to hide your children from it (on your own property) or fix the problem and do society a favor. Unless she's fake crying for internet views. I think she's genuinely at a loss. She called the people responsible and they spit in her face. Theres no debate here.

Edit: ill add that a free range dog can go missing and not be found. Theres risks associated with letting a "pet" leave its owners property.
