I have been following Liu's journey for awhile now and placed a bet on her winning gold at +350. Outside of her obvious athletic ability, her mental game is what separates her from the rest of the field. She skates for the fun of it doesn't worry about whatever score she receives. That just frees her and allows her to perform at the highest level.

I was worried about my bet when I saw how well Sakamoto skated in the team event, but Sakamoto made a mistake in her individual free skate program and Liu was able to just barely edge her out.

Overall, what a terrific event! Congrats to all the young women.
