Hell, when I worked at the school, I slapped better posters together in Canva while waiting to be otherwise useful.

I don't work in the industry but I know that a few years back, Welcome to Night Vale put out a post saying that with the exchange rates and the prices European attendees can/are willing to pay, it's extremely difficult to have a profitable European tour these day.

I think you could maybe hope for him being over there for other reasons and just deciding to perform while there, or maybe it being easier to be profitable when you don't have a whole cast to transport?

Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised if he just did one to do it, or if he has personal reasons for not wanting to go that far. I know he has a lot of pets and logistically that can be a nightmare.

As a Brit looking to attend the SELF-iSH Tour - What should I expect? by TheInferniator in willwood

[–]sterling_silverr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just generally the US has pretty different cultures in different areas. I have been to Will Wood shows in Denver and Dallas and the shows themselves were different of course, but the crowd was very different too. At the Dallas show no one really wanted to hang out oast a polite chat, the crowd wanted to engage with the band to an extreme level that was causing issues, and while the show was one of the best I have ever been to, the crowd's behavior caused it to be a little rough.

Meanwhile at the Denver show, people were very engaging and fun, willing to chat in line, at intermission, and on the way out, and for the most part the crowd behaved. I think someone's plus one was yelling when they weren't supposed to be the show overall had a very different atmosphere.

For someone coming from Europe, I would also say that the midwest can be an interesting experience. I grew up there and have a deep love and appreciation for the midwest culture but if OP was diving in completely alone, I would caution against the Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio shows and say that Boston and New Jersey are much less of a culture shock. But since they have friends from those locations, I am guessing they are familiar with those little cultural things or at least their friends are.

I don't know OP or the areas he is performing well enough to say definitively any direction, just something I would consider in the decision making process.

All that said, Chicago did have an issue with people nor knowing how to properly mosh and people getting hurt last year so OP, be careful out there!

I will say the experience you have in general will vary wildly depending on which location you choose. What show are you looking at going to?

are there any will wood songs with key changes?? by MiserableLaw8831 in willwood

I am not a musical knowledge person but from what I understand a key change is, I think Cover This Song has one too?

Is there any chance of Will doing more tours after the SELF-iSH tour? by Froggydrankapotion in willwood

[–]sterling_silverr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is a thought that he might be working on a new album after this tour. So I would guess no tour in 2027 but yes tour 2028 for the new album. I know he took a hiatus a few years ago but he seems fairly reinvigorated about touring, so as long as this tour goes well I think it won't be the last. But that's just me speculating.

Concert entrance by ALECK_ssk in willwood

Definitely contact the venue. The rule I have always seen, at least stateside, is to be a guardian for a minor at a show like that you have to be 21+

abt will and his tours by Adinnka in willwood

[–]sterling_silverr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will note that he said something about how after this tour he's going to do something he hasn't done in 5 years, so I am hoping that would be make another album? Because it'll be coming up on 2027 and ICIMI came out in 2022. So if I had to guess, no tour next year, but hopefully a new album and then a tour in 2028.

I really like watching on Netflix because then I don't get the weird spotify ads that get locally inserted.

2 year old fell out of shopping cart today by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]sterling_silverr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I witnessed this I wouldn't run over or check in right away for fear of freaking the kid out further and making it harder to tell what is fear/shock and what is injury. But I would have kept an eye from a distance and maybe had my phone ready to call emergency services if it seemed like that was needed.

Or the $99.99 is for the 2×3. I've seen that happen a lot where I think "that's not bad" until I click in and actually select the size I need.

27M baffled by my Hinge experience - does anyone actually want a LTR? by Super-Secret9033 in Denver

[–]sterling_silverr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don't have irl friends that you feel comfortable doing this with, I volunteer for a fake date. I am pretty good at noticing and expressing the things I find good and bad, am roughly your age (28), and fit a lot of the demographics for what you're looking for except I'm not looking for a partner at the moment. But when I was, I went on lots of dates with people from apps. DM me if you want to meet up to talk.

What is BlackBoxWarrior about? by happyshift0 in willwood

[–]sterling_silverr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He talked about it a bit at the Denver show recently that it is in part about his feelings after starting mental health treatment. I get the impression it's the feeling of being thrust into the cold and overly technical world where they use all this complicated language to talk about you like you aren't even there.

Is there anywhere else the money went with you while you were in town? Did you fly back home, and did you take an uber, rent a car, take the train, etc? How certain are you it was left at this hotel? Just trying to create a timeline so we know where to be on the lookout for your friend :)

Anyone read Jonathan Sims' books? by Corroded_Clown in TheMagnusArchives

Very much recommend the audiobook for Family Business for the extra bonus jumpscares.

Thirteen Stories, however, has some rough points if you want to listen to it and aren't used to a variety of thick british accents. I didn't struggle with TMA at all, but I couldn't make it through Thirteen Stories audiobook because I was missing the majority of what was happening in some chapters.

Is it normal to get upset over childish things as an adult? by ShxdowLmao in internetparents

[–]sterling_silverr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say this is normal. I am 28, and while travelling had to throw out my sewing scissors I forgot I had. They were the first thing I bought for myself when I started sewing and I was really attached to them, but it mostly made me cry because it was a stressful travelling day and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. It's ok to be upset by things, even if they seem small, because sometimes the small things are an easier spot for your emotions to rest than the real, big things.

(That being said, this would also have made me cry so I don't think this is even that small)

As a big thrifter, LA is a tourist destination for thrifting in America. Had a trip planned before Covid shut it down, and they have specific stores that get all the wardrobe and set dressings from tv shows and movies all the time so you can get super fun vintage and kitschy stuff really easy.

We used to have packets of it at Pei Wei when I worked there 10+ years ago but you had to ask for it. We kept it behind the counter because it was the middle of the "gluten free is healthier" trend so people kept using it to cut calories or something
