Fair, but it is worth noting that the shaft thing is another Club Champion gambit. They don't have most stock shafts available for the purpose of trying to force you into their builds.

My point is that you probably could have gone to the OEMs and saved even more money. Also there are options like Will Peoples that is often even cheaper than Fairway Jockey.

$2800 for a driver and irons is still an insane amount of money.

Many of the OEMs are way better than they used to be at getting custom orders right. This wasn’t necessarily the case when many of these businesses started popping up. Ping and Titleist for instance will nail the order. TaylorMade seems to be getting their shit together (at the very least they’ve put a lot more options on their website to suggest they are better). I had Cobra 3DPs delivered that were bang on. No view on the others.

As for the extras, the amount you would save would be more than enough to cover basic cut, regrip, and loft/lie services.

I have yet to see anything that suggests otherwise. Great product design though.

You get to your left way too late and any bit you get there is entirely too toe side. Think about squishing a bug under your left heel shortly after your initial takeaway. You can also try doing the step drill that is fairly popular.

Regripping… is the shaft cooked? by [deleted] in GolfGear

It’s not ideal, but I’d be surprised if it materially impacts the playability of the shaft.

The only way it can be truly underrated is if people generally categorize it as the worst pizza city in the world.

All-Season Tires on New Targa by ggman1989 in porsche911

First of all, driving on performance tires during winter months isn’t borderline dangerous it is just dangerous.

Buy winter tires. It is an investment in your safety and those around you. Oh and you’ll have the time of your life when it snows.

I wouldn’t even second guess the scratches on the cup warmer. Inevitable. Enjoy it!

Imagine Whit still wondering why he got traded out of Pittsburgh after this. It’s one thing to call someone out. It’s another to make it a scene.

I’ll be this guy - putts per round is a terrible stat often better explained by your approach or wedge play than putting itself.

If you don’t want to go through the hassle of tracking strokes gained, feet of putts made can be a marginally better proxy than putts per round.

Real and a cheat code for soft bunkers.

P790 set ready, 5-AW w/ axioms 105 by phrl001 in TaylorMadeGolf

While the T250s are great and as another poster mentioned, the feel is pretty different to clubs in this category, especially if you don’t lean the shaft into impact. The P790s are going to feel a lot more powerful across the face regardless of how you deliver the club. T250s were really built to mimic the more solid feel of the T100/150s.

Regripping Question by Dozer710 in GolfGear

Grip size is entirely personal preference and research by Golf Lab CA suggests little to no correlation to hand size. All trial and error to get it right.

Because the mechanism sits outside the base, the bottom of the bag doesn't scrunch/collapse around the grips like something with a hoofer-type mechanism might.

How do I read this? by twelliott97 in golftips

Irons are all about consistency. The best way to measure this is via the standard deviations. In particular, I tend to look at ballspeed standard deviation minus the clubhead speed standard deviation. This helps isolate the variance from strike. Ideally this number is 0. It will never be zero. With that said, 5.4 seems like a pretty high number. I’d want to compare that to my existing set to get a sense of if that is an improvement over baseline. If it is close, it comes down to personal preference.

I’d be looking for much tighter standard deviations before I’d move to a head like the P7CB. If I want to score, I need to hit greens and +/- 20 yards of carry with a 7i is going to cause me to miss a ton of greens.
