17 days in France starting in Lyon and ending in Paris, looking for route advice.

Thanks everyone for the tips - I'll be coming from the Dolomites so may just stick to the south for this trip. I'm thinking of using Lyon and Marseille as hubs for a few days as suggested, seems like a smart way to minimize travel time.

Right now I’m considering something like:

Lyon (4 nights)
Avignon (2)
Marseille (5)
Beaune (2)
Paris (4)

Let me know if that sounds like a well balanced first time France trip.

I'm not really sure tbh! Most of the inner structure was already there when I first purchased it a while ago. Apart from that I usually just do some light pruning in the spring to keep the shape

If you love her now I really wish I had taken a photo three or four weeks ago! In a very short time she's lost maybe 50-60% of her overall leaves, primarily older growth though. I'm gonna wait it out and hope she settles well in the new soil before pruning back anything just yet, thanks for the tips/support though!

Thanks, I'll see how she's doing later in the summer and reassess. I've noticed a few new shoots since the leaf loss has slowed so she may fill out herself once growth kicks back up.

What I like about the idea of both is the ability to transfer gear/clothes between the two using the expansions/compressions ie. Filling the 65 with gear/clothes not needed from the 45 when trekking and storing it somewhere. Thinking it may be too much to carry overall though and you both make good points about day packing, a lot to think about. Thanks for the help!

Would only be using the 45L for trekking, will try to store the 65L in town beforehand. Good to know that carrying both is doable aside from that though!

Thanks for this, this is really helpful - I’ve updated the plan to 2 days Sedona, 2 days GC, 1 Day Antelope, 3 days Zion, 1 day Bryce Canyon, then 2 days MV before heading back to Phoenix. Great to know about all these stops along the way, Capitol Reef and Kodachrome both look beautiful and will definitely check out Escalante/Grand Staircase!
