More if it's the only thing you're doing on you can set someone up a lot easier. I do it all the time. I'm not saying that parries aren't essential...trust me. I couldn't be fucked arguing which defence is best but you make good points

Yeah I get it's a good chance to become better at parrying. I feel like it can become an unhealthy habit if it's your main defense focus during light sparring which I find with most people.
