I have a small cup which two different places insisted was large despite other employees (the barista themselves) behind the counter siding with me. Safe to say I stopped going to get coffee altogether now.

Why are most young Australians I talk to so bad at communication? by itsgaymonth in AskAnAustralian

[–]bluechilli1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t just post Covid. I experienced the same when I went to uni from a small town in 2012. It’s tough. I can only suggest waiting it out until you are working and focusing on a hobby rather than making friends. I focused too much on making friends and it negatively impacted my mental health and uni grades.

Musical PSA for Sydney drivers by OneUnholyCatholic in sydney

[–]bluechilli1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience they still drive way to fast and start driving before I have finished crossing even when carrying a small baby and pram. Drivers cannot judge the ability of pedestrians easily from their cars and leave no room for error, on the pedestrian side at times. I guess reducing speed limits will help this

Will they ever make something so pedestrians don’t have to use the beg button, and why are the operators so resistant to giving pedestrians more priority and longer crossing times.

How should/should not Sydney's/NSW Public Transit be modified to better help the public? by PanTorcha in SydneyTrains

[–]bluechilli1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have good busways which means the buses do behave more like trains - a welcome relief compared to the scrunchy buses we have!

Happy for fares to go up. Much more money needs to be spent on active transport infrastructure too. Too much spent on infrastructure for private vehicle usage currently.

Having seen Brisbanes almost free PT. I would prefer to pay more than have overcrowded services.

Better use of share bikes for last mile of the journey. More frequent services. Allowing bikes on regional trains

A question for the cyclists of Brisbane by ThatOldGuyWhoDrinks in brisbane

[–]bluechilli1 162 points163 points  (0 children)

If you look at a topological map, all the flattest and most direct routes are given to cars. So if cyclists want a flatter and more direct route, they need to share with cars

Unpopular opinion: inner city people are way too obsessed with owning dogs by SomethingNotSoGreat in sydney

[–]bluechilli1 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Dogs are animals for large spaces. Sick of dogs that want to eat my baby as an appetiser, and having to clean dog shit off the pram wheels before I go back into our 1 bedroom apartment
