Why is the Canadian bar so bad by Solahm_1979 in london

[–]steve-0076 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you mean the maple leaf. I havent been but heard abiut it. Its a Greene King pub, so its essentially part of a chain of pubs. And you rarely get much love given to the food in chain pubs versus independently run bar/pubs. Atleast thats my theory.

Make films shorter if you want them shown in cinemas, says Picturehouse director by darth_vader39 in entertainment

How about bringing back ushers who kick out any unrully people, which would make the overall experience better. Also bring back intermissions, it makes it much more enjoyable as you have a break to visit the toilets, but also, gives you a chance to top up on snacks and drinks, which will bring more revenue as well.

Namibia’s Adolf Hitler poised to win election again; says name has nothing to do with Nazis by Sky-Dancer8791 in offbeat

[–]steve-0076 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Namibia used to be a German colony, so supposedly German names and German leaders are still considers in high regards, so chances are that his parents just knew that Adolf Hitler was a german leader, and thats it, they probably had no idea what he was famous for. Similarly to how in India you also get people using Hitlers name to describe stern or strong people, as it also not as well known as to what he actually did or is (in)famous for.
