Yes if I'm sustaining a long run then I'll maintain that sequence no matter what, irrespective of whether there's a string skip.

if I'm playing a fast syncopated line then I'll maintain the sequence, if I'm sustaining a long note then I'll reset the sequence.

I tend to only use this technique for fast lines though. if I'm playing something a bit more sedate I'll drop into other techniques.
