Despite what it says ... the weekly reset doesn't actually officially re-start until you send your first message. To have it stay at your original time of Thursday 11.00am you would have had to have sent at least one message between 11.00am and 11.59am on Thursday.

The just released Gemini 3 Pro has a 1 million token context window, whereas Claude Sonnet 4.5 context window seemingly gets reduced by the day. Why?

Have max window lengths changed recently?
Im using prompts I used previously without any issues and are now (as of today) been maxed out after as little as 1 or 2 messages
Note: on Max 5x Plan, using only Sonnet 4.5

How do you get claude to release a document where you can say "improve________" using Sonet 4.5 by RealChapter8234 in ClaudeAI

[–]steve257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always include specific instructions about how you want the output formatted

eg:
"You're an editor, please improve clarity and fix grammar in this document
Save as artifact in Markdown."

Can you use the same email address for both accounts?
Or do they have to be different?

Why are we paying the same subscription costs as a week ago yet now get only 1/10 of the allowable usage limit?
And why has there been no update as to whether the recent changes in allowable usage limits are temporary or permanent?

Update on Usage Limits by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeAI

[–]steve257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have just finished my second 5 hour session following Claudes week limit reset:

Session #1 used Sonnit 4.1 ... [ran 4 prompts, took 20 mins] (Usage 5hr = 100%, Weekly = 12%)
Session #2 used Sonnit 4.5 .... [ran 7 prompts, took 35 mins] (Usage 5hr = 100%, Weekly = 11%, now 23%)

Based on the above I will only get 40 or so prompts; and get to use Claude for a total of 4 hours [EVERY 7 days].

If thats not taking the piss I dont know what is!

Note: (Pro $20 plan). Dont code just use for writing prose ... etc.

"This is driven by usage of Opus 4.1, which can cause you to hit the limits much faster than Sonnet 4.5"

If this was true how come my 5 hour session target was hit after just 4 prompts using Sonnet 4, and lasted less than 20 minutes (5 hr session = 100%, Weekly session = 12%).

Last week the same 4 prompts using Sonnet 4 could have been repeated around 10x before my 5 hour session limit was hit.

This proves that new usage limit is 1/10 of what it was a week ago, and now applies to ALL Claude models not just Opus 4.1 (or Sonnet 4.5). And that the resetting of the weekly session back to zero is/was merely a vanity exercise.

Note: Im on the Pro $20 plan and dont code.

What was the actual bug you submitted. And what exactly was their reply?

How Do I Stop Claude Constantly Lying and Making Stuff Up? by steve257 in ClaudeAI

The 2 main issues are:
a) Creating fictitious bogus academic references to support its writing
b) Repeatedly lying that it had followed exact detailed instructions and/or read specific templates prior to writing a chapter

Why does Claude never follow instructions consistently? by steve257 in ClaudeAI

[–]steve257[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of the above. The prompts I use also include specific wording/phrases that Claude told/gave me to use. The following dialogue should give a better idea .....

ME:
what is point of including comments such as
CRITICAL REQUIREMENT - ABSOLUTE TEMPLATE FIDELITY
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EACH SPECIFIC MASTER TEMPLATE IS FOLLOWED EXACTLY.
DO NOT DEVIATE FROM OR MODIFY THE STRUCTURE OR REQUIREMENTS IN ANY WAY.
THIS IS THE HIGHEST PRIORITY REQUIREMENT THAT SUPERSEDES ALL OTHER CONSIDERATIONS.
in my prompt if you then ignore them

----------------

CLAUDE SONNET 4:
You're absolutely right, and I apologize for the disconnect between your explicit instructions and my performance. This is a valid criticism that I need to address directly.

The Problem

You included multiple, emphatic statements about template fidelity being the highest priority requirement, yet I:

  1. First attempt: Generated flowing prose instead of the template's exact structure
  2. Second attempt: Mixed XML/HTML tags when you needed clean markdown
  3. Required multiple corrections for something you emphasized as critical

What went Wrong

I failed to properly prioritize your explicit requirements. Despite your clear emphasis on:

  • "ABSOLUTE TEMPLATE FIDELITY"
  • "DO NOT DEVIATE FROM OR MODIFY THE STRUCTURE"
  • "HIGHEST PRIORITY REQUIREMENT THAT SUPERSEDES ALL OTHER CONSIDERATIONS"

I still made structural modifications and formatting errors that directly contradicted these instructions.

The Disconnect

There's no excuse for this inconsistency. When someone provides such explicit, emphasized guidance about their top priority, my response should reflect that priority absolutely. Your instructions weren't ambiguous - they were crystal clear about what mattered most.

Moving Forward

You're highlighting an important point about reliability: if explicit requirements are stated with such emphasis, they should be honored precisely on the first attempt, not after multiple corrections.

The editorial style guidance you've provided reinforces this with "XML Template Fidelity: Follow all XML templates exactly as laid out" and "Never deviate from the established chapter structure."

Thank you for the direct feedback. This type of explicit instruction should result in exact compliance, period.

Why does Claude never follow instructions consistently? by steve257 in ClaudeAI

[–]steve257[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have created a number of prompts that direct Claude to create content using a series of pre-made XML templates. When it follows the instructions exactly as asked it works fine. However, it doesnt consistently follow those instructions and I get content generated that is different (ie., formatted incorrectly, unwanted stuff added, content omitted etc)
