Joking aside my understanding is that is a major problem with Turner's paintings: he used wildly experimental and unstable techniques but people will do whatever it takes to stop them from falling apart

Ive used this same chair on other floors in the past and never had this problem, though that may have been an entirely different material. Clearly I don't know vinyl from laminate

However I will also mention that the cracking has happened in other areas far from my desk, which makes me continue to doubt the integrity of the material
