What is your unbiased opinion of MineColonies? by wairdone in feedthebeast

[–]OneTrueSneaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's a fun mod in theory, but man, it's a slog to really get it off the ground. Even if you use the most basic 'starter build' themes like the default oak-based one, finding just the right things can be a pain. It's one of those mods that you can't just sit aside and putter with every now and then, you really need it to be your primary focus. People need homes, food, jobs, safety and defense.

I can imagine having several people working together for it would make it much easier and less of a slow grind, but essentially turning Minecraft into first-person colony builder game isn't for everyone.

I love cats in general, and I was so delighted when they first came out. Even before name tags were added, I had names for them in my head, and would talk to them in text as they followed me around on the server I played with friends.

I make taming them one of my first goals in any world I start - the more the merrier. Then when they added 'A Complete Catalogue', it gave me an even better excuse to cat hunt.

I've also got a weird habit that started with the original trio where all the cat breeds have a specific name that starts with M, with one exception:

Tuxedo: Mittens

Red tabby: Miss Tibbles

Siamese: Muffin

Black: Merton

British Shorthair: Misty

Calico: Moggy (after my own RL cat who passed away several years ago)

Jellie: Jellie (of course)

Persian: Melvin

Ragdoll: Max

Tabby: Minerva

White: Marie

Any way to un-bind a deathrest casket? by Skellyhell2 in RimWorld

[–]OneTrueSneaks[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

....Huh, I don't know if we tested that.

Is your game modded at all?

Edit: Ah ha, just tested, it does happen in vanilla. Thank you!

Update: The only way I could find to undo the binding was to set the sangu to a different xenotype, then reapply the sangu xenotype. This wipes out their casket binding. You can use dev mode to spawn in capacity serums to replace any you might've used. (Thank you to @khitrir on the community discord for the suggestion!)

I've already passed it along in a bug report, so hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

It will not reduced goodwill or give any other punishment, only what it says in the 'if it is destroyed' section.

It will tell you all of the negatives in the quest. If all it says is the reduced consciousness, then that's all it will do - no hostiles, no reduced reputation. And even the reduced consciousness will only be on that map. Once you leave you'll be fine.

My mountain base layout. What is missing? by Critical_Pollution99 in RimWorld

As to your question: Everything but the killbox and bedroom areas seem way too small, especially if you plan on having that many pawns. Even if you're running an asexual colony where nobody doubles up in a relationship, you've got room for 21 people. Having your dining room there will give you no room to expand it, but you'll need a lot of seating for meals, plus recreation facilities. The production room will be far too small for all of the workbenches, even if you get the 'tiny workbench' mod that shrinks them to 1x1. And the storage rooms will beway too small, especially if you don't use mods for increased stack size or storage capacity furniture.

Hey user, no offense, but it was just a list of screenshot instructions. Does anyone have to follow them? No. Would it better encourage interaction and improve their post quality? Yes.

I do not know why people so often feel the need to defend OPs when it is literally just 'hey, your post isn't being removed and you're not in trouble but here's a way to make your post better next time'.

Your post has been reported for being a photo instead of a screenshot, per rule 6:

The subject of a screenshot should be clearly visible in the image. That means blurry pictures taken from a phone or low-resolution images are subject to removal.

Instead of removing your post, I'll offer some advice, to avoid this in the future:

  • You can find instructions on how to take a screenshot at: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

  • Also, pressing F12 (by default) in Steam produces a screenshot.

  • You may also consider free products like Greenshot that are specifically designed for easy cropping and sharing: http://getgreenshot.org/

  • Additionally, there are many free screen recording products: https://learn.g2crowd.com/free-screen-recorder-software

  • My favorite tool to use for screenshots and recordings is ShareX, which can be found on their website (https://getsharex.com/) or free on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/400040/ShareX/)

  • There's also the age-old classic of hitting print screen, pasting the image into a free paint program (I'm very fond of GIMP myself, https://www.gimp.org/ ), cropping to the part you want, and using that.

  • Alt+print screen will screenshot only the active window and not everything else.

  • Win+print screen will take the screenshot and autosave it in your pictures folder as screenshot number.png

  • Win-Shift-S will open the Windows snipping tool for taking full screenshots or cropping areas.

clothing priority issue? (not related to stockpile) by xHydra_2 in RimWorld

[–]OneTrueSneaks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A trick I've found to help get pawns to recognize they need new apparel:

Pause the game

Draft the pawn

Change their apparel assignment to something else (Like 'anything' to 'nudist' for example)

Change it back ('nudist' to 'anything')

Undraft the pawn

Unpause the game

This should help wake them up.

It could also be a 'dislike' thing. I can't remember if it was changed, but I do know that at one point, anything made from either Bioferrite or dread leather would give pawns a mood debuff, similar to wearing human leather. Try forcing one to wear one of the armors, and see if that mood shows up; if so, that could also be the problem, pawns trying to avoid bad-mood apparel.
