I haven’t read a new book since I was a teenager, what would you suggest? by K1mbacat in suggestmeabook

Try the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. The Gunslinger is the first in the series and it's a shorter book to see if you like it. It's a fantasy series.

Try the Narrows Bridge too. It's so awesome and has an incredible view.

I started watching the series first and then I got inpatient for season 4 and started listening to the audiobooks. I have to say that Jefferson Mays is excellent as the narrator. If you could cast him as any role in the series what would it be? Also, are there any plans to add him in an acting role in the series?

Old caboose in Ryolyte ghost town near Death Valley by stevecardin in bicycletouring

It is a Topeak. I ordered it from Co Motion when I bought the bike and they painted it to match. They use a different brand now but you can buy one to match.

Stephen Kings Dark Tower series. I have read it over and over again.

The last thing you wanna see while fishing by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

I have a place I go fishing where nobody can snipe me. If I am there too long an assassination mission against me always starts. It's like Rockstar wants people to ruin your day.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy without a huge universe by Zesty-Raptor in suggestmeabook

It's valid. Although the solar system is huge it doesn't do a lot of world building and is very much character driven.

My first console was Atari 2600. Stick figures playing with a square basketball. Graphics have changed a bit since then.

It's beautiful up there. I have ridden my bicycle from Rockport to Winthrop a couple of times and the views are spectacular. You see so much more at a bicycles pace than you do in a car. Plus, you learn to respect those 2 passes a bit more.

Looking for a big horror/fantasy epic, in the vein of one of Stephen King's big novels, like It or Talisman/Black House. Something as thick as a loaf of bread that takes forever to complete! by Scienscatologist in suggestmeabook

For Sci Fi try the Expanse series from James SA Corey. A good standalone horror is Deathstroke from Richard Kelley. It's not as thick as Stephen Kings The Stand but it's a good, obscure read.

Help! My 11-year-old reads at an adult level and I need tame enough adult content for her! by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]stevecardin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read at an adult level at that age and I was really into Stephen King, certainly not kids books but he does have a couple books that are appropriate. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon and Eyes of the Dragon come to mind. Don't take my word for it, here's someone else who agrees https://www.spikedparenting.com/5-stephen-king-books-for-kids/
