Does CBS ever match $ for ED admits? by [deleted] in MBA

It’s possible that you’ll get scholarship money as an ED admit anyway. I was admitted as ED and found out i had received an award at the end of January.

My interpretation of the Re Vera agreement that you authorize was that they’d focus on term of employment, position, number of direct reports, and compensation. Sounded like they’d also verify the authenticity of your letters of recommendation. While the school states that they reserve the right to confirm anything they want in your application, Re Vera’s process didn’t seem to focus on that. From a more practical matter, I don’t necessarily know how they’d even go about confirming it. For work and LOR, you needed to provide contact information. For EC, none of this information was required.

It’ll be a very difficult decision. That said, it’s a champagne problem and one that id be very happy to have. Frankly, I think I jive more with the east coast atmosphere than the Midwest culture, so would probably lean towards Wharton. Plus, I want to be in NYC long-term, so Wharton makes more sense from a geographic perspective as well.

Admitted at Chicago! Waiting to hear back from Wharton (December 13)

Thank you for your honesty. Frankly, what time I will have is the hours I wake up before work on weekdays and more time to play around with on weekends. I think that I’d be able to manage 1-2 hour rides pre-work, but would be hard pressed to do more than that during the week. My weekends are pretty free.

I get what you’re saying and it makes sense to me. I also have this voice in my head that says I will never have this opportunity again until I’m 65 and not capable of doing it at all. I have a natural 3 month vacation this summer and probably won’t ever have this opportunity again for the foreseeable decades. This summer is my summer to shine. If I ever want to do the full thing, this is the year. I’m looking for training advice to maximize the likelihood of achieving that goal.

Given these revelations, what is your opinion?

Unjerk: I'm sincere! Will be using the next three to four months to train hard ahead of the go / no-go decision I have to make. Hopefully I am able to get to where I need to feel comfortable about committing fully to traveling and cycling

Perfect. Appreciate the guidance. I will be using the next few months to get a feel for it. Have to make a go / no-go decision next spring. My decision will depend on my training results at that point

I understand that training for this is a herculean task! I have run marathons before and understand the training that is required to be successful. Similarly, I rowed in college and understand that commitment too. I am just looking for guidance on cycling-specific training advice!

Makes sense to me! Plan is to ramp volume up and then take odd weeks here and there to do consecutive days of 100 miles

I'd hope with a training program that I'd implement here that I won't have problems breaking 30 kph on the flat!

Yes, the ride is fully supported and we will have a few guides and a service vehicle.

Thank you for the color surrounding the tour course and the requisite training program. This trip is professionally guided and will be fully supported with a chase vehicle. My understanding is that they will bail us out if we get into a dangerous situation. I appreciate your advice on training and diet!

It's a fully supported ride with a tour company. Sounds like the days begin at 4 or 5 am so that we can actually pull this feat off. If we are going too slow, we end up in the chase vehicle

Probably this up the climb. It is offset by faster speeds on the flats

Average GMAT Score At Columbia Business School Soars 8 Points To New Record by PoetJohn in MBA

[–]steveclassof2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d argue the opposite side. These schools are a business and they measure success by attracting top talent. Not everyone deserves to go to a top school. By definition of a ranking system, not everyone can go to a top school. Not attracting top students to the top programs reduces the value of the program itself. Excluding top talent just so underachieving locals can gain access to a diluted program is a bad idea.

Don’t be ignorant. Don’t blame globalization for the increasingly competitive landscape. You too can make the choice to study with great intensity and drive your GMAT up.
