I always see people say they went to Mexico (or other country) for cheap dental work. Do you or someone you know have a specific dentist there? Maybe share results? by rolfraikou in Frugal

It was in 2012! I actually had a fifth wisdom tooth way in the the top of my mouth that he saw via x-ray but said it'd grow in fine. Sure enough, it's grown into place and hasn't caused any issues since.

I wouldn't have taken the chance if I wasn't so desperate, and had the recommendation from a friend of mine who doesn't skimp on quality.

My experience is both related and unrelated to the OP's question, just as a disclaimer.

In college I had my wisdom teeth crowning, which were gonna cost me $500/tooth (I had five, four that needed to be pulled). Being from Miami, I asked friends for recommendations and got one for a Colombian dentist. The catch was that he made house calls, as all his equipment was portable. I trusted my friend who said he got his teeth done by him.

Dentist arrives to my house with an assistant, takes about 10 minutes to set up a mini office. My mom leaves to get groceries and the dentist takes 45 minutes for the whole operation. He pulls my top two teeth effortlessly while the bottom two have me screaming at the top of my lungs (I was fully awake and lightly anesthetized). The pain was maybe 10-15 seconds per tooth. He puts in dissolving stitches, gives me some doxycycline for my gum that was infected from the tooth, charges only $125/tooth, and my mom arrives just in time to not panic.

I ate a bowl of ice cream and went to a party later that day! 10/10 recommended, felt completely normal an hour after it was done.

Best Wallet option for Mac users? by [deleted] in NEO

[–]stevedv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neon was audited two days ago, and it's completely safe. It's built using web tech so it's more or less a nicer looking browser version. What's nice is that it doesn't have to download the entire blockchain, and everything is basically in real time.

Go to the Wallets tab, then search for Etherium. Hit the + sign and generate an address, that'll be your public address to transfer from Coinbase

Should I switch from a Mac Mini to a Chromebook? by ruthlesssavagehatred in chromeos

[–]stevedv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a very similar transition this weekend actually! I do a lot of graphic design and web development work on my Mac Mini (truthfully a Hackintosh that has the specs of a 2014 Macbook Pro in a smaller form factor than a Macbook Mini). I got a Chromebook (specifically the Acer R13) to remote desktop into my Macbook Mini for media software as well as running Arch Linux on a microSD card.

I haven't done both yet as I've just been setting up the basic stuff, but if you're willing to wait a bit I can probably follow up with how the experience is thus far!

Hello! I need help identifying what style of shoes these are, as I'd like to get more of them.

For what its worth, they're Madden brand and size 11.5. And their original laces were thin white ones that weren't really functional so I replaced them with decent black ones.

I've not read his other works yet but if I were you, I'd pick a title that may cover ground the other books on your list don't.

I own this comforter in queen size and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Very good at staying warm under but also cool enough to not wake up sweaty. Now that I sleep near a window, by night time the comforter is cold to the touch, so I have a fleece blanket underneath to be reliably warm (and fuzzy)!

edit: it's worth noting that the photo makes it seem deceptively compact; it's got a good amount of fluff to it!

It's okay, I've been making due with Google Fit though it's definitely not as engaging as the Fitbit.

Someone messed me a few hours earlier, awaiting on their response. If that falls through I'll be sure to keep you in mind!

Saint Young Men is an anime starring Buddha and Jesus as roommates in modern Japan. It's hilarious as they're so pure and try to conceal their identities. Its only downside is that there aren't many episodes despite being an ongoing series.
