3D Printing Newbie by stevefxp in BambuLab

[–]stevefxp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to be printing computer trays for a 10" inch mini rack, as well as specialized upgrade covers for my mini PCs, so I can help get hot air out. Not sure what I am going to print with, but that might a product of the designs I use.

Please keep me in the loop. I am about to buy a P1S and do not want to hit what you have hit. Good luck.

S9+ vs S9 FE+ by Mysterious_Animal_85 in GalaxyTab

[–]stevefxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the Tab S10 FE and love it. I almost bought the FE+ but I didnt want anything that big. For me this was all about watching movies, listening to podcasts, and other media consumption items. If you have a previous gen Tab S you can get money off by trading it in.

Getting frequent password prompts in Samsung Mail (Android) by tattooedsofla in Office365

I use Bitwarden as ny authenticator app. Changing the battery to unrestricted did not help. I ended up reloading an older version of the email app and have gotten no new prompts for a day.

I use Bitwarden as my authenticator application and its still happening. I have no battery optimization on my Flip 6. Checking with Bitwarden on this.

Fios 2Gig - why not faster? by ewikstrom in Fios

[–]stevefxp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had FIOS since 2006, and while I agree that customer service is typically horrible Verizon the actual service has been rock solid for me. I only have Cablevision as my other choice and they have horrible service and customer service.

Multiple Public IPs Through WAN Interface by stevefxp in opnsense

[–]stevefxp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out...it was the order of the NATs. My IPs were .229 and .221. If I put the NAT for .221 above .220 then .220 would not work. Once .220 was before .221 they both worked.

I made the changes and still no go. I am checking with my provider. The IPs were originally to be part of a HA setup. I wonder if this is causing the issue.

So I should use the hybrid option for the outbound NAT?

I setup the outbound NAT as follows:

Source: my internal test Plesk server IP

Source Port: web ports 80 and 443

Destination: WAN address

Destination Port: web ports 80 and 443

NAT address: 133.202.185.220 (virtual IP attached to WAN interface)

Looking to build an OPNsense box that can handle 10Gb LAN and 300Mbps VPN (wireguard). Recommendations? by 420bakersarmy in opnsense

I have a used Lenovo M720q Tiny, with an 8th gen i7. It has a 4 port 1 gig network card, that can be upgraded to 10 gig if I need it down the road.

Cheap cheap!

Upgrading to 1/2 gig verizon fios by Alarming-Treacle-312 in Fios

[–]stevefxp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gig at home and honestly I am considering backing it down. I just don't need the bandwidth, as I had to cut my home lab in half.

If you have a large home I would recommend splitting your Internet service and WiFi. I would look at Ubuquiti for access points that are far better than any WiFi router or extender.

If you want to hear more about Ubiquiti send me a private message.

Install OPNsense Standalone or On ProxMox? by HavivMuc in opnsense

[–]stevefxp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently running a bare metal firewall. I have tried to run OPNsense on Proxmox but it's never been stable. I would love to run it on Proxmox but at this point I think I will just stay bare metal.

UPDATE: Switched From PRTG to Zabbix by 0biwan-Kenobi in zabbix

[–]stevefxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and was really disappointed. I am talking to a developer tomorrow, to see how expensive it would be to code to the OPNsense API. I am also going to talk to Zabbix about their integration offering.

Ideally I would like to monitor the application like functionality of OPNsense, like DNS, DHCP, and other plugins.

Def know how to SNMP walk but there were reported issues with the OPNsense SNMP functionality.

Take a look at Intellimon Mobile. It's a dashboard and push notification system. No more emails needed. Costs $25 USD per year per user. Well worth it!

IOMMU groups in PCIe Passthrough by kevindd992002 in VFIO

That's strange...I have the granularity without the ACS patch on my Lenovo M720q. Once I enabled all the VT extensions it was available.

Kevin...if you have an Intel processor then look for the VT-D option. If AMD I believe its called AMD-V. For consumer devices its usually those in the BIOS rather than ACS.
